Iris by Colin Fuller and Olin Webster
PD 484 | Erdem Selek | Winter 2026

Inspired by the iris door mechanism featured on camera shutters, the iris lamp aims to delight users through hands-free activation, powered by the Huskylens V2 AI vision sensor using simple hand gestures.

Through displaying an open hand to the camera on the Huskylens, the iris door mechanism will open while simultaneously turning on the LED lights placed on the inside edge of the wall. The sudden motion and pop of color provided by the lights turning on makes the user feel connected to the product without having to get near the lamp whatsoever. This invisible connection is what really drives the interaction between the user and the product.
