Just because it is summer doesn’t mean the roses aren’t busy!

June 7-12th these beautiful people worked as summer counselors for WKU’s Hilltopper Summer Music Camp.

Here is what some of the roses had to say about their experience,

“It’s always so cool to play a part in a student’s musical growth! It is what I live for” - Olivia B, Archivist

“My experience with HSMC was honestly incredible. Having the opportunity to teach students of multiple age ranges and perspectives was eye opening for me as an educator. I loved working with the horns in all three ensembles, as well as the awesome clinicians that helped me along the way. I had many new experiences throughout this week, and I wouldn’t trade those experiences for anything.” - Hera P, VPR

(L-R) Brenna Derby(alum), Olivia Booher, Emily Curtsinger, Hera Patrick, Cailee Tucker, Shaylee Baxter(alum), and Olivia Harris

Freshman Year in a Nutshell

When I came to college I thought I would be super antisocial... And I was kind of right... But I also made a lot of friends. Freshman year was a big eye opening experience for me. I made lots of friends, interacted with more people, got involved with more stuff, and most importantly I got closer to God, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and I am so excited to be entering the Church he founded in Easter. If you were to tell me a Year Ago, I would be in a Bible Study, Going to a Church every Sunday, Entering the Catholic Church, Going through Focus Discipleship, and Considering entering Seminary... I would look at you like just another "Crazy Cultist Christian" and probably tell you how stupid you are to believe in something like that. Now look at me! I am so incredibly thankful for God for delivering me and accepting me back into his arms. I would be lying if I said my faith journey has been smooth sailings but I now know I have amazing friends and God beside me to Guide me. God has also even used me to educate other people and I now have 1 friend who is wanting to become Catholic and another one Looking into Christianity. I Give all Thanks to God. This School Year had its bumps on the roads with Classes, Grades, etc. But I know God is there with me to get through it. I will leave this Post off with a Bible Verse for anyone worried about the future.

Matthew 6:34: "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
