🎤 Confront the Mic | The mic came to New York. The conversation continues. 🎙️

I spoke with an AMDA graduate from North Carolina about finding her voice through performing.

She was imaginative and creative growing up—but also shy. Singing, musical theatre, and a community where she could be herself helped her come out of her shell.

From Boston interviews to a New Bedford workshop, I’m collecting stories about how we learn to express ourselves. This is another piece of that ongoing conversation.

I am now an AMDA alumni.🫶

This school has taught me so much. I would not be the person I am today without AMDA. It has been one of the best things in my life and I will always be grateful for the people I have met, what I’ve experienced, and how I grew as a person/performer.
I wouldn’t have even been at AMDA if it weren’t for my supportive family and friends. My mom and dad were the people that pushed me the most into doing what I love and I am forever grateful. To my friends who would always see my shows, thank you for always being there supporting me. To my beautiful roommates I love y’all so much and I’m so glad that we met at this school. Im glad I get to go through this journey with y’all and I couldn’t picture going through it any other way.
Doing what I love in NYC is something little me could only imagine and quietly wish to herself. To little Grier, no I did not end up being a psychologist. I made our dreams come true.

14A i love you so so much. 4th semester has been so insane, and i couldn’t have made it through without you guys. thank you for your endless love, patience, kindness, and support. i’ll always look back on this semester as my favorite. you’re all so insanely talented and i loved learning and growing with you all every day. even the days that we all lokey wanted to kill each other…it was so worth it. you’re all amazing and i can’t wait to see what you guys do next. thank you for making my last semester at amda so incredible. i adore you all💜
