Over the past few months, I have had the opportunity to take my short documentary, Up Next, on a run of screenings and festivals. Up Next won the Best Youth Documentary Award at Astoria Youth FF26, the BIPOC Excellence in Film Award at Trinity FF26, and most recently, the Audience Choice Award at ShortShorts FF26! It also screened at BRIC Arts & Media as part of BRIC Concrete Stories 2026.🥇

Introducing this documentary to audiences has been an amazing experience. With every screening, I think back to editing in my bed last winter, when this film had only lived in my mind and laptop, and now find myself sitting among hundreds of people watching it. I am honored to have screened my film alongside so many talented young filmmakers; each award has been a surprise. The kind feedback I’ve received and the memories I’ve made will stay with me as I continue to grow in this industry.

Thank you to @justice512k , my Documentary 1 professor at Pratt Film/Video, for his guidance and reassurance while creating this film for his class. Thank you to my mom for connecting me with Cheryl and for her encouragement. Thank you to my dad for being my second pair of eyes. And lastly, my biggest thank you goes to @thecherylblaylock for her willingness, vulnerability, time, and for trusting me to tell her inspiring story. I feel so grateful to have our creative journeys intertwined.

And thank you to the viewers. I appreciate every giggle, sniffle, and round of applause.

The final cut of Up Next has been reuploaded to my YouTube! ⭐️
