Daughter of the Boricua (Songs of the Boricua) By Olivia Castillo  Rating:5/5 Description: The clouds above were dark and ominous. Moctezuma lay there bleeding, tears rolling down his swollen, bloodstained face. He thought of his firstborn, Isabella, at the mercy of the murderer of his people, Hernán Cortés, and it made him tremble with anger and loss. In a last act of defiance, Moctezuma murmured his revenge: ”Oh powerful god, I ask you to avenge my people. I ask that the next daughter of Hernán Cortés and her seed be cursed.” With that he closed his eyes and destiny was set in the stars above him. Daughter of the Boricua continues the saga of the award winning book, Song of the Boricua, and follows the story of Puerto Rico, told through the lives of three generations of women. Liani; a Taino torn between her loyalty to her people, and her love for a Spanish officer. Isabella; direct descendent of Aztec princess Isabella Moctezuma, cursed as her grandmother was. Josephine; daughter of Isabella, afraid to love, but finding herself caught between love or career. Are they cursed? Book review- Daughter of the Boricua Daughter of the Boricua by @oliviacauthor brought about the story of Puerto Rico, where, his king, Moctezuma, was betrayed by Spaniard, Hernan Cortes. Hernan Cortes killed the Moctezuma, he took his revenge by cursing Hernan Cortes. The story took a new turn when Hernan Cortes married Moctezuma's oldest daughter, Isabella, and gave birth to their child, Leonor and the curse passed from generation to generation unknowingly. I really enjoyed the tinge of the love relationship in the story, especially, between Estefan and Liani. I must say get your ducks in a row to enjoy the rich culture of Puerto Rico. The characters were very well developed and I really like the character, Isabella, who was a strong-headed woman. I found this book written in simple language and keep you hooked till the end. However, there is a cliffhanger, at the end, which left me curious to read the next part of this series soon. I love to give the book 4 out of 5 stars. Thank you @digitalreadspr,@shalini_drm, and @oliviacauthor for counting me in for this tour. #booktour #oilviacauthor #bookstagrammer #bookblogger #books #booksaremylife #readbook #reading #bookbuzz #bookaregreat #booksmakemebusy

#BOOKTOUR 📚Daughter of the Boricua by @oliviacauthor📚 Tour Hosted by @digitalreadspr #BookReview Daughter of the Boricua by Olivia Castillo is a beautiful combination of historic fiction and fantasy that takes us through three generations of women bound together by a curse. What a unique plot! I love Olivia Castillo’s writing style. She drew me in immediately with the tragic opening scene and kept me captivated until the end. The descriptive writing helped me feel like I was part of the story and I was emotionally invested the entire time. Liani, Isabella, and Josephine are fantastic characters. I found relatability in each character and as with her talent of descriptive writing, Olivia Castillo creates fantastic characters. Overall, Daughter of the Boricua was a great read. 🅱🅾🅾🅺 🆁🅴🆅🅸🅴🆆: 𝘿𝙖𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙪𝙖 𝙗𝙮 𝙊𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙖 𝘾𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙤 Genre: Historical Fiction Ratings: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5/5 This is the second book of the trilogy Songs Of Boricua. This story revolves around three generations of women and how a curse of the past has wrecked their lives and if at all it's possible to undo the curse. The author has narrated the story brilliantly and has done a great job with world-building and character development. All of the characters were very likeable, especially Isabella. The story was intriguing from the beginning and I was so curious to know if the curse could be undone. But I was a bit confused at the beginning with the changing of the timeline from past to present but it all became clear soon after. The writing style of the author is very good. Can't wait to read the next book in this series. Thank you so much @digitalreadspr @shalini_drm and @oliviacauthor for having me onboard for this book tour. Loved this book. #bookreview #booktour #booktours #digitalreadspr #digitalreadsbt #digitalreadsbooktours #oliviacastillo #bookstagramfeaturesonly #bookstagram #bookishlove #booknerd #historicalfiction #fantasy #daughteroftheboricua
