This morning’s screening with our friends @northernheartfilms was a powerful celebration of working-class documentary voices from the North of England. Five short films supported by the Northern Doc Fund (2022–2025), followed by a thoughtful Q&A exploring documentary filmmaking. Huge thanks to the filmmakers for sharing their work and experiences, and to @emilybolts for steering such a brilliant conversation. We’re proud that all proceeds from this event support Doc North and the vital work they do championing underrepresented voices. Another meaningful collaboration, and one we hope is the start of many more. #Documentary #WorkingClass #NorthernFilmmakers #DocNorth #FilmCommunity

We’re thrilled to announce that Mavas, Olivia Hird and Marina Espinach, will be showcasing their film, Intertidal, at the prestigious 2025 Freiburger Filmforum! SYNOPSIS: On the southeast coast of England, the unstable nature of the coastline seems to give rise to mystical more-than-human encounters. Set over the course of a single tidal cycle—from low tide to high—the film gently unravels how shifting waters shape both human and non-human engagements with place. During a single tidal cycle, fishermen, bait pumpers, machine cranes, a meteorologist, lugworms and molluscs, come and go. Like the sea itself, experiencing the tides as daily forces of change and limitation, they become the enduring connector of the local and the global. Don’t miss it! DATE/TIME: Sunday 1st June 14.00
