Souvenir de septembre 2024 au théâtre du Chatelet, juste avant l'ouverture du rideau pour le spectacle Krush qui donnait la parole, avec émotion, à des résidents d'hébergement social et d'Ehpad, et à d'anciens détenus. 🌓 Le Voyage dans la Lune Un album drôle et burlesque, un voyage fantasmagorique et féérique ! Dans un monde sans l’Autre, tout roule, enfin, tout tourne. La Terre autour du Soleil, la Terre sur elle-même, la Lune autour de la Terre, l’Administration autour de ses règlements, l’Amour en rond, nos certitudes en boucle et l’humain autour de soi. Remembering COMBATTIMENTI. As my very first artistic season is coming to an end in May, I thought it’s time to remember its beautiful highlights. @theateranderwien became the roof for growth and looking backwards at the very beginning, I couldn’t wish of a better place to start as the coziest, safe-space-like stage of Wiener Kammeroper. Our fabulous, highly talented, empathic and (proved to be) incredibly flexible COMBATTIMENTI Family made this extraordinary production come to life. The tender yet powerful Ninfa (@soprano_johannarosafalkinger), the Testo AKA My Ice Cream Daddy (@ferranalbrich), the ambivalent Arianna (or?) Luciana (@luciana_mancini_mezzosoprano), our Serbian Gran Fernando (@lparezanin), the most touching Clorinda (@ambra.biaggi) and me as Tancredi. And the dream leading team of @davidbergmueller, @olivier_fredj, @petrareinhardt_costumedesign, @thomasboudewijn, @eleonora.rossi.86, @wesslerkai, @alexander.gergelyfi, @bernhard_schimpelsberger and #franztscheck. All these colorful artists made my first theatrical stage experience simply unforgettable. The feeling of gratitude doesn’t stop on this. The Opening Night! Damon promised something we had never seen before - and that’s exactly what it was. Yes, it was challenging for the audience at first; experiencing something so unusual, weird, and quirky takes a bit of time to process and get used to. The amazing, intimate space of Lido is tiny, and the distance between the singers and and the audience can be measured in mere centimeters. Loved the acting - you could truly feel for Pamina and Tamino and fear the Queen of the Night. There was sadness, melancholy, and palpable despair in the music, followed by moments that made you want to stand up and dance between these plush velvet seats. Pure fun. Damon’s love for Kurt Weill, which can sometimes be heard in Blur weirdest b-sides, results in some irresistibly catchy tunes - played on vintage synths and sung by opera singers, can you imagine that? (Papagena and Papageno, you were fantastic). Not to spoil it for those who haven’t seen it yet: Damon is the narrator of the story, his role is small, but yes, he does sing - and somehow, he doesn’t seem out of place alongside the wildly trained opera voices of the rest of the cast. The costumes have Missy’s unmistakable touch, fitting perfectly with the vibe of the performance. I wondered what the opera singers thought about it all. When we met some of them after the show, they said they loved it and enjoyed working with Damon, „what a genius he is”. Some familiar faces spotted in the audience: Alex James, Kano, Kaktus Einarsson… anyone else? Come and see it if you can, there are a few tickets left for today, Saturday, and Sunday!

A cette découverte, Jean-Luc Choplin a eu l’idée de donner à Damon Albarn avec lequel il avait déjà travaillé au Théâtre du Châtelet (Monkey: Journey to the West puis wonder.land) le soin d’écrire une partition sur un livret d’après Goethe de Jeremy Sams. Une série de concerts de cette partition electro-pop où l’on retrouvera les personnages de la Reine de la Nuit, de Pamina ou de Papageno.
