The likely end of the ski guide season

My guiding season on skis, started a bit premature in mid October with fresh powder on Piz Palü and ended this weekend with a couple of days on the high mountains above the lovely @britanniahuette_sac.

Thank you everyone for all the great moments, see you in the mountains by foot next.

HIGH ALTITUDE TRAINING

Today I’m working from Titlis mountain, 3020 m above the sea level, to get prepared for a high-altitude climb on Friday and Saturday.

I feel the height just sitting at my laptop 🙈👩🏼‍💻 It feels like nervousness or anxiety, but there is nothing psychological in this experience, just pure physiology caused by too little oxygen.

This makes me think about the importance of the acclimatization before reaching a big goal.

I’m not just climbing the mountain. I’m learning how to breathe, how to be at a new height. This works both literally and metaphorically.

What altitude are you preparing for?

“Ski” pictures from the past week or so! Almost always a good time bringing out the rope for some snowy short-roping or the occasional lower. Never hurts to mix a little alpine flair into the ski tour! 😉
