Almost 29, so let’s talk about 28.

28 started out so fun. I felt high on life, I was full of joy and optimism. I accomplished some incredible things, too.

I placed second in an extensive local modeling competition, I signed with two more modeling agencies, and I worked my first season as an international model in Milan.

I also experienced devastating burnout for the first time in my life. That put a massive damper on the second half of being 28.

As I approach 29, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want out of this next year of my life.

One thing is for sure, I want that feeling from the beginning of 28 back. That’s my greatest wish for turning 29.

If modeling is the french fry, fashion is the ketchup.

My entire life I have loved fashion, and part of the reason I fell in love with modeling is because of the looks.

Outfits I feel are too “out there” for everyday life work perfectly for photoshoots.

Modeling is a safe place for me to truly express myself with my personal style.

I’m a model for the art, but I’m also in it for the outfits.

Sometimes you need to leave home to realize you want to be home.

If there’s anything I learned from working in Milan, it’s that I really want to work in Utah.

Now, I’ve been trying to do just that since 2019, and I still can’t figure out what it is about the market here that I’m not compatible with yet, but I’d rather try harder to work close to home than try to find more opportunities abroad.

Breathe in. Breathe out.

A huge part of the reason why I hit burnout is because I wasn’t taking time to mentally or emotionally exhale from everything I was doing.

There was so much I was looking forward to, so I just kept plowing through my weeks and months. It never made sense for me to pause at any point, so I didn’t.

Looking back at it, I can see how tightly I was wound up and how inevitable hitting burnout was for me.

The only solution has been taking a break—taking time to exhale.
