@SceneNoise: Across 24 tracks, Egyptian rapper ZAF approaches ‘elza3albeymawet.’ as an expansive, atmospheric sandbox, pushing regional trap into darker, more progressive territory.

Created alongside a wide network of producers including Hamadaboi, Hatem Bas, Mahib Sleat, Omar Taa’i, and guest vocalists like Ziad Zac and Dal!a, the LP is dense, disorienting, and held together by dynamic sampling. ZAF bridges regional eras, pulling from vintage Egyptian cinema, 2000s pop, and even nodding to Palestinian rap icon Shabjdeed on ‘babylonn’.

Driven initially by the aggressive bravado of ‘epistaxis’ and ‘gamedfash555’, the album eventually pivots toward personal fatalism. Hard 808s and sirens give way to live drums, sweeping strings, and emotive keys on cuts like ‘3omry ma a2zeek =(’ and ‘Dopaminee’, exploring family weight and toxic ties to deepen the lore of one of Egyptian rap’s most compelling new voices.

Since debuting last year, Egyptian-based anonymous artist ZAF hasn’t been short on releases, putting out two LPs, an EP, and at least 20 singles. He now returns with his third full-length album, ‘elza3albeymawet’, a lengthy, psychedelic moodboard into his world of glitchcore. The 24-track project is anchored in trap and melodic, experimental hip-hop, while pushing further into the internet-native textures of New Trap.

‘elza3albeymawet’ centers on unexpressed grief, unspoken resentment, and toxic interpersonal drama, pairing heavy emotional themes with punchy, erratic, and aggressive flows. Across the album, ZAF moves through paranoia, betrayal, scene politics, ego battles, toxic relationships, and emotional numbness, constantly circling the idea of holding onto bitterness will eventually eat you alive, so you might as well let it out, laugh at it, or rage through it.

Despite its lengthy tracklist, the album runs for less than an hour, with most tracks sitting under two minutes and none stretching beyond three. The songs hit quickly, dropping straight into their central idea without much introduction. The production follows suit, favouring a gritty, DIY, hyper-energetic texture shaped by ZAF and a wide range of collaborators, including Youssef, Hamdaboi, Hatem Bas, Mahib Sleat, Omar Taa’i, Barakkat.T, Jayrewind, Maximizacion, IFEEGANG, Harpoeth, Deno31K, Ultcore, Soxlss, Typhelicia, NXTCY, and TKD.

Honestly, I'm really happy I got the chance to work with @scenenoise on this project, especially because it was with @abyusif_ . As someone who's been listening to his music for years, being part of something like this felt a little surreal.

At the same time, I can't say this project fully represents me or my vision as a creative designer.
I wasn't involved enough in the set design process to bring the ideas I had in mind to life, and because of that, the final result isn't something I feel completely proud of from a design perspective.

But if there's one thing I'm genuinely proud of, it's the people.

The conversations, the energy on set, the talented people I got to work with, and the experience itself made the whole day special. Sometimes the people you meet become the best part of the project.

And i made a great friend out of that day .

So I'm posting this not because it's my strongest work, but because it reminds me of a day I truly enjoyed, with people I was happy to meet and work with.

And hopefully, this won't be the last time working with @scenenoise. I'd love to get another opportunity in the future where I can fully explore and execute my vision the way I imagine it.

Until then, here's a project I'm grateful to have been part of, and a memory I'm happy to keep.

@SceneNoise: Few rap projects this year have generated as much conversation as Abyusif EP ‘BAL MASQUE’, yet much of that conversation has centred on a single moment. In a new interview, Abyo and the project’s collaborators unpack the record in full, from the viral success of ‘K 7 M S’ to the personal writing, psychological struggles and creative decisions that shaped the album.

Also joining the interview are Lil Baba, Omar Tay and Mohamed El Alfy, who discuss the project’s sonic identity, while Abo El Anwar reflects on ‘Sada’ni’, the two’s creative relationship that continues to shape both of their work.

Watch the full interview on the SceneNoise YouTube or at www.SceneNoise.com in the link in bio.
