@SceneNoise #NewNoise: As Eid celebrations approach, the region’s hip-hop scene continues to see a steady stream of new releases from some of its notable artists. In the latest edition of our Rap of the Week playlist, we spotlight standout tracks from TIF, Dizzy Dros, Nadine El Roubi and Lege-Cy.

French-Algerian rapper TIF has finally released his highly-anticipated album, Savashuia, while Moroccan rap heavyweight Dizzy Dros made his long-awaited comeback with Aflam, his first album in almost 13 years.

Egyptian-Sudanese artist Nadine El Roubi teams up with Saudi-American rapper NORY on the punk-inflected Enemy of the State, from their collaborative EP NUCLEAR. Meanwhile, Egyptian producer Omar Keif closes out the first instalment of his upcoming debut album with Mafhoom, an introspective cut featuring Lege-Cy and accompanied by a cinematic music video starring Hassan Malek.

Indie-pop from the Levant and melodic rap from Egypt and Sudan dominate this week’s best new Arab music. Abyusif drops his ominous “Do,” opening with an intro that sparks flashbacks to Hans Zimmer’s iconic soundtrack for the classic video game Crysis. Lege-Cy makes a long-awaited return, appearing on Omar Keif’s star-studded album. Syria’s indie-pop serenader Shams releases her debut album, produced by Kubbara, while Lebanon’s LAI and Liliane Chlela team up on the left-field cut “Msh Akeed.”

Following a measured rollout of singles from his debut album 001, featuring collaborators from across the regional scene, including Ziad Zaza, Hleem Taj Alser, ZAD, and Mousv. Egyptian producer Omar Keif closes the project’s first chapter with ‘Mafhoom’, featuring rapper and singer-songwriter Lege-Cy. Serving as the final track on the album’s opening installment, the song arrives as an emotionally charged closing statement to 001.

Built around themes of anxiety, discipline, and creative fixation, ‘Mafhoom’ stands as one of the project’s most vulnerable moments so far. The track follows the psyche of a young artist caught between ambition and exhaustion, navigating the pressure of maintaining individuality within an increasingly saturated music landscape. Rather than romanticizing artistic discipline, the song frames it as a draining cycle of obsession, self-doubt, and impossible expectations. Lege-Cy leans fully into his trademark understated melancholia, delivering diaristic verses that weave together rap cadences and soft R&B textures to capture emotional fatigue with striking intimacy.

Crisp drum programming and heavy 808s anchor the production, while echoing guitar lines and sweeping string arrangements add cinematic depth to the track’s atmosphere. Even at its heaviest moments, the production carries a subtle sense of uplift beneath the darkness, allowing resilience to quietly emerge through the emotional burnout embedded in Lege-Cy’s writing.

That emotional duality extends into the music video, directed by Omar Donga and starring rising Egyptian actor Hassan Malik. Unfolding with the pacing of a short film, the visual mirrors the song’s internal tension through intimate close-ups and restrained cinematography.
