Came back to my hometown again, twice in one month; so nice to be with family; my mom had a fall (is doing great with a new hip - she is superwoman). Helping her in her recovery was a beautiful & special experience: 1). I further realized how resilient & strong she is; always knew that - but man she is TOUGH! 2). Sophie is a fantastic helper; all of her little cousins are. What a great lesson for them to learn how to take care of their loved ones. 3). Never take your health for granted 🙏. 4). Always find time to see the ocean: We went to Pleasure Point this time and threw a flower in the water that Soph picked for Eric, one of his fave surf spots; miss you, E. #Santa Cruz will always have my heart 💙🏄‍♂️🌺🤙.

During Soph’s first swim Finals today, Soph stared wide eyed at the trophies that were set aside for the first place winners. She said, “Mom, I want to win one”. I told her she can achieve anything she puts her heart and mind to, BUT it takes ALOT of hard work, dedication, fails, blood, sweat, and tears. Then she said, “Mom, you swam, did you win one?” I replied, “When we get home we can open a box Oma stored away for me and I’ve never opened it.” Until today; I cried putting that Team USA jacket on. Who would’ve thought a jacket could hold so much emotion? Well that piece of clothing represents so many years of hard work, ups & downs, & dreams…I’m not even sure it ever hit me when I was younger…but it does now. Soph said, “Aw mom. I’m proud of you.” And in that moment I was proud of young me too, and all her tenacity. Then Soph asked if we could take pics lol. She took mine, I took hers; who would’ve guessed this would be one of my favorite bonding experiences with her, and hopefully lessons. Moral of the long winded story is, nothin’ comes easy…& shout out to @omaschacher for always being my cheerleader and saving all of this memorabilia 🥹🏊‍♀️✨🤘.

🥹 A viewer sent me a hand-painted stone to be placed wherever I saw fit, a way to not only honor his late wife, Marna, but also our beloved Eric 🥹🙏. His name is Robert and he started, @marnarockstheworld - placing stones all over the world (& states) to honor his late wife. Marna passed away from breast cancer, she underwent 16 rounds of chemo, a double mastectomy, and 25 rounds of radiation; what a warrior. Robert said she handled her cancer battle with, “strength, courage, grace, love & beauty.” What a remarkable woman! She was a viewer of our show, and when she passed Robert began watching us to feel connected to her, as she never missed her DBL 🥺💔. Our Eric battled Covid complications for a year & a half, even undergoing a risky double lung transplant, after being in a coma for months. Eric endured his Covid battle bravely, courageously, and with strength, love, & humility. A warrior indeed. 🙌🏼 I am honored to place this stone near Vail, CO as she was an avid skier, Eric an avid snowboarder; they would’ve been two peas in a pod, and now they are 💕. Thank you, Robert for this beautiful & sentimental way to honor Marna (& Eric too). I’m a proud Stoner! Robert also asks all to schedule their mammogram! Did you schedule yours? Happy Mother’s Day to my mama hustler @omaschacher - you truly lead by example mom; I can only hope I will be the caring and selfless mom that you were (are) to me, how did I get so lucky? You never seize to amaze me - always thinking of others first, always making everyone around you feel seen and special. You are my super hero, my role model, my best friend, and the best oma to soph and miles. I love you more than words could ever express. And to my kiddos, thank you for giving me my purpose, my identity - nothing makes me more happy & fulfilled than to be your mama! ***also there is a pic in here that mark took of me (on the baby monitor) way back when feeding miles in the middle of the night, it clearly encapsulates the sacrifice we mamas make (my face 😂😂😭, so tired haha). Being a mama is the hardest job there is, but also the most rewarding. 💖 Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas out there, to the step mamas, to the mamas of fur babies too, and to the mamas who fulfill the role as mama...& to those grieving their moms.
