POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

It’s hard to even know how to find the words to describe how this weekend made me feel. The debut of @garagesale.themusical was a spiritually cleansing experience for me and a triumphant moment in time for everyone who put their heart and soul into bringing this project to life over the past many months.

When I began writing this show last year I felt very alone in the process of it and I wondered if anyone would ever be able to understand or care about the story I needed to tell. But standing in the foyer after the show these past two nights and hearing story after story of how people saw themselves in it and related to it in so many different ways, it made my heart full and I feel so proud to have created something that has the ability to start such open and vulnerable conversations.

I could not have made the physical manifestation of Garage Sale happen without the astonishing amount of support, hard work, and inspiration that my literal right hand @laurascarborough_ put into this project. She’s truly a force of nature and I’m so lucky to call her a friend and a collaborator. And @omdatikruben lit up the stage with his infectious positivity while performing the role of my friend.

I can’t thank @rik_prinsen and the team at @mysteryhousevalkenburg enough for allowing us to take over their beautiful space in order to make it our own and to bring it back to life after 40 years of silence.

Lastly, thanks to the amazing public full of friends and supporters from all over the country and world who gave us two very warm, unforgettable sold out nights ‘in the garage.’

We don’t yet know where the journey of this musical will take us next but we sure can’t wait to find out, “as we stand together at this fork in the road.”
