a week ago my directorial debut film tethered was screened at the howard thesis showcase. to everyone pictured and not pictured, this film is ours. from the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me make this film in honor of my best friend, abby. i’m incredibly blessed to have such an amazing cast and crew. to every single family member, friend, and human being who actually helped fund the film, thank you for supporting me on this journey.

thank you @howard.thesis.showcase for having us, it was such a special experience. i’m so honored to have received the 2026 hip hop caucus inspired future storytelling award for my directing, i am beyond thankful for the recognition. it was lovely to see and be a part of a lineup of winning directors that were all black women @chandler.noell3 & @iamsamiyyah

and finally to be transparent for a moment—this story about love, loss, and grief had been in development for about 2 years, helping me heal from such a profound loss. initially, i was really scared sharing such a vulnerable piece of myself with this story. but getting to see all of the work poured into it, seeing it on a screen, and getting to hear so many intimate anecdotes of those who have also coped with a loss, it cracked my heart wide open. my one hope is that this film was able to resonate and show people that grief doesn’t always have to be so ugly, but that it can be something beautiful, and i believe that was achieved. thank you all so very deeply <3

And with that I am officially a Howard University graduate!!!!! After a long line of stressful, fun, tough, but even hilarious 4 years I have graduated with a degree in Film and TV. I’m going to be honest, Howard was the best thing that could ever happen to me. I found opportunities and most importantly I found friends who I now consider my family. I mean throughout everything that has happened they have had my back. They cheered, they supported, they’re the best people I know. It sucks that I’m not going to see y’all in a while but I know for a fact we will cross paths. Love you all! #hu26 #huyouknow❤️💙

Long time to post this but this is the HOWARD THESIS SHOWCASE! This is my first time going and I’m ngl this was one of the best experiences I’ve had at this school! It pretty much felt like an Oscars award shows but for students and I was here for it. So many talented people making amazing projects and YES the film I worked on with @iamsamiyyah WON A BEST DIRECTOR AWARD! Loved working on that with her even if it was hard but she, and a bunch of other talents including myself pulled it off! Love every single one of y’all! And yes I played a ghost! Oh speaking of that apparently I can only tag 20 people per post (stupid) but @iamsadiyyah also appreciated your help.
