POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Lunch used to be the best part of the day. The longest recess. Reuniting with friends for the biggest games of tag, soccer, or wall ball. Trading treats, swapping snacks, or sneaking off to the store. Lunchtime changed. It became something to work around or worse yet, work through. Something to neglect, ignore, or rush through; getting by with the saddest type of calories.

We want to bring that Lunch Time feeling back. We want you to swear you can hear that 12 o'clock school bell ringing. We want you to slide over for some Southern Hospitality as quick as Fred Flintstone slid down that dinosaur.

Lunch is 12-4 right now, Friday thru Sunday. We've improved the menu from recipe to portion to price. Our classic sandwiches are better than ever, and come piled high on local buns from our friends at @panedelsole bakery. We're also starting a BLUE PLATE LUNCH SPECIAL to run every Friday, 12-4. A rotating, featured Big Southern lunch dish, for just $10 with the purchase of any drink, dine in or takeout.

🍽️Meatless Wednesday?🍽️
My friend Clare (@cpmetal) and I have been teasing that we should get out for dinner for far too long now, so when I saw that @chefkershaw @luckyduckhamilton was having an all vegan menu evening, I knew it was the perfect time to make it happen.
Clare and I had done Meatless Monday at the OG @rapscallionrest location and @chefkershaw had hit it out of the park back then.
What followed was an evening of great conversation, and some amazing food.
What stood out the most was that Chef Kershaw wasn’t trying to create faux meat dishes, but rather unique bites that completely stood on their own.

Keep an eye out for the next vegan evening at Lucky Duck, you’ll be super impressed!

Mushroom Truffle Espresso

Tofu Garlic Chive Dumplings

Roast Caraflex Cabbage

Lions Mane Schnitzel with Lemony Orzo! 🤯

Fried Green Tomatoes, Chickpea Ragout

Massaman Potato and Leek Gratin

If you're reading this, then I already know you're thinking about your next meal. Maybe "where it's coming from," or maybe if you can afford it. Most likely wondering where it's actually coming from, like where they sourced it.

You don't need an influencer to tell you what to eat, or a food critic to tell you what you'll like. Some good influence never hurts though, and we could all use a little insider info. A gentle nudge in the right direction or a friendly reminder about an old favourite you might have forgotten.

In a sea of sponsored posts by folks who don't seem to know a thing about the meals they're shilling, and ai enhanced pics of food that look nothing like what hits the table -- a genuine recommendation can save you from drowning in it, or from never diving in at all.

With that being said, and with all my delicious bias included, I would like to genuinely recommend @saltlicksouthernkitchen.

With the OGs back at the helm, and a reinstated commitment to serving this neighbourhood, Saltlick is once again cooking the best Southern food north of the border. Expect a new dialed-in menu with better portions and prices, more Southern comfort food classics, and enough old favourites to satisfy returning regulars.

Simple, bold flavours. Expert slow-cooking techniques with local ingredients. Meats & sides smoked, fried, baked, steamed, sautéed, and they're even making a dessert now, (Banana Bread Pudding Brûlée and it slaps).

Expanded hours mean you can satisfy your Southern Food cravings 6 days a week, closed Wednesdays. Cravings like this Cajun-style Shrimp & Grits, served with the best cheddar biscuit you've ever had. (Shots fired at @redlobster) 🔥🦐👌

You can make reservations or order takeout online & by phone, or just stop by if you're @on.james.north. Tell them #mookeats sent you, & get some extra sauce.

**sorry, you'll get some extra sass. Southern sass tho. It's very charming.

This post is validation that your Friday feelings of being fed up & food fatigued are real. All week your lunch has been underwhelming, under-appreciated, and understandably unfulfilling.

You deserve more. You deserve to be full.

Our new menu doesn't discriminate between lunch & dinner. Instead you can have BIG southern plates or BIGGER Southern plates, and they start at just $19. We do combos differently around here. We're talking craving-causing fire-cooked meats, & three, yes THREE sides to choose from.

If lunch still means something between buns to you, we've still got a carefully curated list of your favourite sandwiches. Built to order & piled high on a foundation of fresh baked Italian goodness from our neighbours at @panedelsole bakery.

Lunch is served Friday, Saturday, & Sunday from 12 noon. If you're in a hurry, we got you. Wanna relax a while? that's cool too. Grab your lunch gang & come see us, or book ahead online or by phone.

Expect more from your lunch hour. You deserve it.
