Hooray, we did it! Halloween is finally live – rather, undead – in our shop. Please enjoy this old-school Pepper’s Ghost effect we created to announce the launch💀

✤ HALLOWEEN: Main Category
Our most unruly assortment yet! Many classic perfume oils have returned, and original Limited Edition blends. Here’s where you’ll also find seasonal scents we’ve made with three of our partners: STIR THE CAULDRON with @onceuponavhs , GLORP with our Twin Cities Lunacy host @oddmartmn , and of course the return of our @thorns_clothing clove collab.

✤ THE PUMPKIN PATCH
We enjoy these year round, but offering them seasonally makes them more special! Take a fragrant wander through our own personal pumpkin patch.

✤ THE MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH
For 2026 we’ve a revived a weighty chunk of our 2018’s Edgar Allan Poe release: seven perfume oils and seven atmosphere sprays inspired by the gaudily-hued windows and chambers of Prince Prospero’s doomed masquerade ballroom. Shall we dance?

✤ KATHEDRA
Our classic Cathedral scent has ensconced us in gothic grandeur for over 20 years. This fall we’ve expanded its range with this series of variations, opening up shadowy and vast spaces in the mind, the heart, the soul to see what spirits may be enticed to come and occupy them.

✤ THE HAUNTED HOUSE
Speaking of spirits, here’s another big revival: our Haunted House project dates all the way back to 2007. Here you’ll find some antique BPAL discoveries as well as fresh visitors to our haunted home away from home.

✤ HALLOWEEN CLAW POLISH
A cavalcade of sharp new shades crafted exclusively for the Lab by @hautemacabre!

This launch also includes a seasonal series of Limited Edition beard oil, hair gloss, and lotion releases in which to slather yourself. 🎃

Fall is here, and so are its scents! 🍂 Join us at @oddmartmn in Minneapolis this Saturday to sniff, sample, and purchase the latest from @blackphoenixalchemylab, including all the Halloween perfume oils that we recently previewed at Dragon Con.

On hand for testing but not for sale: the official #VictorianPsycho film fragrance collaboration. The titular scent blends sugar-dusted Honiton lace and vanilla moire stained at the hem with black tea and tonka, translucent orange blossoms veined like dragonfly wings pressed to the bodice, and a splatter of coppery, clove-tinged blood on the pearl-dotted sleeves.

X was a bloody hard one so instead of going for X-Men, I thought I’d showcase a little mini series I’m planning at some point… The X Files.

I saw this “Forensic Evidence” Box Set on eBay and fell in love instantly! I’m a sucker for a novelty set like this. I’ve NEVER seen an episode of The X Files (as I discuss briefly on @vhistorypod this week) but I’m planning on dipping in soon.

At last, a marketplace outing in the Lab’s own backyard (figuratively speaking)! 💀

We’ll have a table at @laurelhillphl’s Market of the Macabre in Philadelphia on Saturday, September 26th from noon to 5pm, where you can sample and purchase from a decent selection of BPAL’s spookier wares.

Including what, you may ask? Bestselling perfume blends! Vampires, Lestat and otherwise! This year’s Halloween preview scents! And at least one very experienced Victorian Psycho. And many other things!

Adding this important info nugget from our hosts:

We strongly recommend ridesharing, carpooling, or taking transit to the Market as parking is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. We expect high volumes of guests.

We’re convinced this event will help get our legs under us in terms of hosting our own local retail events at the Lab itself – sooner rather than later! Consider the Market of the Macabre to be part of our spooky training montage. 💪😮‍💨

Continuing our classic spooky cosmetics series, we’ve come up with a fancy name for the white foundation we used in Los Angeles back in the heyday of the 80’s and 90’s deathrock scene.

Titanium dioxide accord, rice powder, talc accord, lead-free Venetian ceruse accord, and a hint of nag champa, clove smoke, and patchouli.

✤ DUSK IN AUTUMN
Black tea, currant cake, mandrake root, a whirl of dried leaves, and hearthsmoke.

✤ EVERY DAY IS HALLOWEEN
Skin-warmed sandalwood and toasted pumpkin settle into a gentle blend suitable for all 365 days of Halloween.

✤ GRAVEYARD DIRT
This is the scent of pure graveyard dust, spattered with grave loam and dusted lightly with tombstone moss.

✤ PUMPKIN BLOSSOM
Everything we love about pumpkin season begins here, from a flame on the vine.

✤ PUMPKIN TOBACCO
Sweet black tobacco infused with dried pumpkin and soaked in bourbon.

Great minds think alike and I was about to post a few corn based recommendations after this mornings 5k with Pedro! He who runs amongst the rows?!
