Yesterday, I had someone trespass and get into one of my cars.

My first reaction was anger. I confronted him
As the situation settled, I quickly realized he didn’t mean any harm. I asked him what was going on, he started telling me his story. He said he’d been kicked out and had nowhere to go. I could tell he wasn’t in the best state, and for a moment I stopped looking at him as just “the guy who got into my car.”

I’ve seen what addiction and hard times can do to people through friends and people around me. It’s heartbreaking and it reminded me that we rarely know what someone is carrying.

I listened to his story, and by the end of our conversation, I gave him my number. I told him that if he truly wanted to change his life and start fresh, I’d help him take that first step.

But I’m also at a different stage in my life. I’ve learned that I can’t want your future more than you do. I’ll help you take one step but you have to take the next two. I have principles I live by, and I won’t compromise them for anyone.

Here’s what I believe,

No matter what life throws at you, you’re still the one in control of the direction your life takes. People will disappoint you. They’ll betray you. They’ll hurt you. Life isn’t fair.

But eventually, there comes a point where you have to stop giving your past permission to control your future.

We all have choices to make every day. Some are harder than others. Some people are stronger than others. But no one is coming to save you. The decision to change has to come from within.

Find a purpose bigger than your excuses. A purpose bigger than your pain. A purpose that makes you get up even on the days you don’t want to.

When you have a reason to keep moving forward, the obstacles don’t disappear, but they become a lot easier to face.

Protect yourself first. But if you’re ever in a position to genuinely help someone who’s willing to help themselves, don’t miss that opportunity.

Sometimes all a person needs is one chance.

What they do with that chance is up to them.

2025 was the most memorable year of our life 🤍

we had our dream wedding, surrounded by family and friends; had Lucas Prata and Reina perform; shot t-shirts out of a cannon; had the most unforgettable honeymoon 🤍

but with all good comes bad; losing a dear special friend and her daughter- although they are not with us they won’t ever be forgotten 🪽🤍
