I wasn’t planning to race, but I couldn’t help myself! The Arkansas Enduro Series kicked off the 2026 season at the newly opened Oz Trails Bike Park. Fun was had! Check out all the people I got to hang with.

Not pictured: my friends Tom & Cass who signed up, forcing me into a FOMO feedback loop.

Got to spend the day with Corbin and his dad, Casey.

Got to catch up with Bill about parenting, life, and the successes of his youngest who is attending NYU.

Found Justin after he finished and gave him my cold drink. He was busy that day chaperoning his boys and their friend, all under the age of 13. He was the snack Sherpa. Then he went on to win his category. 💪🏻

All-time aid station. The Mojo legacy continues on, Dave would be proud.

Like I said, all-time. Skratch Labs, ice in pantyhose, and snow cones.

Trying to claw back some time on the last stage. Haven’t ridden this bike in 4 months. Skills weren’t sharp for enduro and was mid-pack fodder in pro open. Went from winning the two day round here at the end of last year to riding mediocre this year. Kudos to Jake, Ryan, and Eric who rode great and were the top 3 finisher.

Got to pre-ride with my friend Randy.

Shared a lift up to stage 3 with Jon, Missy, and Randy

Hyping up my riding partner for the day. Corbin beat me. Good work, dude.

Hung out with Marcus at the top of Mad Hatter - WOZ Up - Sally, stage 5.

Wiseman was ripping, per usual. Winning his category.

278 racers for the opening round 🚀. I haven’t ever been to a better run bike park than ours. Nor have I met a more professional staff with a better attitude. Well done, Oz Trails Bike Park.

Like many folks I know, punk rock ruled my stereo in the late 90’s. But not all the bands, it was mainly @toothandnailrecords and those in the adjacent northwest. I played the cds loud, and often, among the many bands I obsessed over was @craigsbrother. I only saw them once, and it was early in the day on August 27th at my first Tomfest in ‘98 in Stevenson, Washington. (Tomfest was a little like @audiofeedfest for those of us who grew up in the Northwest).

What lives in my mind from that Craig’s Brother set is an image of Ted Bond standing with impeccable posture, head back, mic raised above his eye-level belting out his distinct and piercing vocals. I was instantly a fan.

After their set, I bought a hoodie, and according to photos, I lived in it for the next four years.

That year at Tomfest changed the course of my life. I saw so many amazing bands, including @huntingtonsusa , @officernegative.official, @slickshoesband, Value Pac, Dirt, Savior Machine, P.O.D., @headnoisepunk , @shorthanded_rocks, Havalina Rail Co., @squadfiveo_official, @theblamed, @fiveironfrenzy, and @ninetypoundwuss.

Within a month of the festival, I would throw my first concert for @shorthanded_rocks & The Beldings and music would transform from a hobby into a visceral passion that still marks my life to this day. (⅓)
