Audio available today ! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Butcher of Nazareth David Scott Hay @david.scott.hay.official Narrator :Brian Alan Hill Simon Maverick @simonmaverickbooks David Scott Hay’s The Butcher of Nazareth is one of those rare novels that is nearly impossible to summarize without giving too much away, yet impossible not to talk about once you’ve finished it. Using the Bible as a historical jumping-off point, Hay imagines the story of a man forever changed by one of the darkest moments in scripture—the Massacre of the Innocents ordered by King Herod. When soldiers arrive at his home demanding the death of every male child, a butcher from Bethlehem is forced into an unthinkable choice that costs him everything, including his own son. Consumed by grief, guilt, and haunting visions of the future, he sets out on a brutal journey searching for meaning, redemption, and peace. Along the way he becomes fixated on a rumor of a boy who survived the slaughter; the one who is destined to change the world. After speaking with the author, what struck me most is that this book is not trying to challenge anyone’s faith or rewrite what readers believe. Instead, it asks us to look at the human side of a familiar story. The grief of the parents who lost children, the burden carried by those forced to carry out Herod’s decree, and even the uncertainty of a young Jesus who has yet to step into his calling. This is a challenging read in all the best ways. It is a fearless, emotionally charged, and deeply contemplative novel that should be talked about and unpacked. It blends historical imagination with theological “what if” questions. As a Christian, it pushed me to consider perspectives I had never thought about before. I truly believe this is a book that readers will be discussing for years to come—and one that deserves to be read, debated, and remembered

Perfect for spooky season join @scottlovelace.books and Mathilda Zeller on One Final Twist to talk about her new release It Looks Like You in the Dark The episode is live now! Book Overview It Looks Like You in the Dark is a propulsive Indigenous horror debut, expertly blending Alaskan Native folklore and supernatural thrills, from Mathilda Zeller, author of the acclaimed short story "Kushtuka" featured in the bestselling horror anthology, Never Whistle at Night. The only people who know are the people who have gone. Those people no longer have throats to tell us. Tapeesa is newly out of high school and working in a fish processing plant in the Inupiat village, Chukchi, where she’s lived her whole life. Maybe that’s why people tend to assume she isn’t that bright―or maybe her mama is right and she does have bad blood. Either way, she knows the legend, and she knows the history. Her Ahna told her that the hungry creature―the kushtuka―appears to us in the form of someone we love. It will try to get us to follow it. Follow it where? Those who have gone no longer have throats to tell us. The Kobuk River Valley of remote Alaska draws greedy white men time and time again. But whenever they come, death comes too. This time the white men are here for the long term, to create an open pit, a rare earths mine just north of the village. When her sister Esther goes missing, Tapeesa will do anything to get her back. Seeking justice, Tapeesa must track down the kidnapper in the darkening Arctic. What awaits beyond the warmth of her village is more horrible than she could imagine and closer to her than she knows. IT LOOKS LIKE YOU IN THE DARK is a fast-paced, grab-you-by-the-throat story about love, loyalty, and all the fearsome monsters that emerge when we turn our backs on the land and each other.

This week on One Final Twist @scottlovelace.books interviews Kevin Johnson about his new release 'Twas the Night. (link in bio!) "A yuletide Midsommar drenched in eggnog and blood." -CLAY MCLEOD CHAPMAN, author of Wake Up and Open Your Eyes A young reporter follows a string of disappearances into the middle of a terrifying Christmas cult inspired by our favorite holiday classics. You better watch out. You better not cry. It’s Christmas in the village of Yule, Maine. In fact, it’s always Christmas in Yule. Here, Santa Claus isn’t a storybook figure. He’s an icon. A god. The villagers don’t just believe in him—they worship him. And the world is better for it. Halley Belanger hates Christmas, and she doesn’t have much love for Santa either. But when a string of child disappearances across Maine seems to spare only the village of Yule, Halley—a sharp, skeptical reporter—decides to investigate. What she finds is a town that guards its secrets with gingerbread smiles and a snow globe sheen. Outsiders aren’t welcome. She isn’t welcome. And something sinister is keeping the Christmas spirit alive. As Halley digs deeper, she begins to uncover the horrifying truth behind Yule’s eternal cheer. Christmas comes at a grisly cost. And Santa Claus is no saint. "The gleefully unhinged tale of holiday horror you've been waiting for." -ERIC LAROCCA, author of Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Chain House JH Markert @jamesmarkert74 10/06/2026 Crooked Lane Books @crookedlanebooks Some books are nearly impossible to review without wishing readers could experience them firsthand, and The Chain House by J. H. Markert is absolutely one of them. This is a standout, full blown psychological thriller nightmare, and Markert is playing an entirely different game here. A murderous cult, a bestselling thriller series, a missing manuscript, a kidnapping, and a death row inmate’s execution with potentially catastrophic consequences are only the beginning. Multiple storylines unfold against a relentless ticking clock, with innocent lives are caught in a web of secrets, manipulation, and connections that run deeper than anyone realizes. At the center is Sal Batise, the utterly despicable Breaker of Chains, a chilling example of how a charismatic leader can turn anger and vulnerability into something monstrous. Against that darkness, characters like Sam Harper and Jennifer Daley give readers people to root for as buried histories and personal revelations come to light. I especially loved the nods to Markert’s other books and the Kentucky connections woven throughout the story. There is so much happening here, and watching the pieces come together is part of the experience. This is so much more than a serial killer thriller. Markert has built an intricate, audacious story that demands to unfold on its own terms. The less you know going in, the better. Just trust me on this one. The Chain House is a book you need to experience for yourself QOTD .If a notorious cult leader on death row claimed he was the real author behind a bestselling thriller series - would that make you want to read it ? Me ?? Totally yes
