There's an unexpected item in the bagging area for this week's Wild One, and we swear we didn't know it was there.

‘I Love Stealing From Woolies’ is the new clip from the self-proclaimed world's first and last female hardbass producer Elektronik Girl Epic (or EGE for short!). This cheeky self-directed clip aligns quite literally with the song’s feisty lyrics that point the finger at the rising cost of living and rorting multinationals, as EGE stashes blocks of cheese down her recycle bag couture trackies and inhales cherry tomatoes straight from the fresh produce display.

When we asked EGE how she and the crew could have possibly gotten away with this, she laughed. “Haha! We had no permission nor really a plan. We walked into the stores on a Sat and Sun with Kaicult666 and Fareevader, went to a quiet aisle and ad libbed. We expected to get kicked out immediately but there were a total of four stores where nobody gave a shit. I think the majority of gen z workers don't get paid enough to care about a mild disruption in aisle 4.”

It wasn’t all smooth sailing however, as EGE explains the arrival of a few more mates from the Melbourne scene caused a ruckus at store five. She explains “store five is where we went in with Stupid Fuck the Silly Clown and crew, with Fareevader and some local volunteer legends like Jasmine, Jaeger, JimJam, Nang Guy and ageusic to sing the outro and we got two takes before the manager had enough and kindly escorted us out haha. Store six with Divorced Dad, OneHitKill and Joy was the busiest we went to and it's like we were ghosts in the store. I had Woolies workers, even security, give compliments to the awesome tracksuit made by Worm (@elsewhere.tas), an upcycle artist and designer in Tassie.”
