I got my first horse in 2011. I was 12 years old.

I named her Bella. Who knows how many other names she had in her mysterious history of 20+ years.
Unbeknownst to me, my parents got her for free.
All I knew was I finally had a HORSE, and she was MINE. She could do no wrong, and had a library full of knowledge to teach me.

I, on the other hand, did everything wrong. I was a blank slate. I never took lessons, I never leased. I just jumped at any chance to ride, groom, or even talk about horses.
My mom would drop me off at the barn in the morning and I would busy myself with not only Bella, but cleaning all of the stalls and doing whatever other chores I saw.
All my shooting stars, all my 4 leaf clovers, all my birthday candles… they all came true with my Bella.

Somewhere along the way, I started a silly little Instagram account.
I made some friends, I made some enemies, I made some super cringey content 😬
But most of all, I grew.
My personality, my values, my horsemanship… you all watched it all form over these years, and continue to take shape.

Now, I’m 27, I have my own little family, my incredible group of friends (that mostly came from this platform!) and I am the incredibly proud owner of my own little herd of birthday candles and four leaf clovers.

I am so thankful for all of the growth and learning experiences over the years, and all that will come.

Next time I might be brave enough to go faster than a walk. This definitely made me realize I use Pilots bridle as a safety net because I ride him bareback with a bridle all the time. But I was too chicken to go faster than a walk tackless 🐔
