Our World Cup travel guide to Vancouver, a city with a booming football culture. When you think of Canadian sports, your mind might go straight to hockey, but we advise you to take a closer look. If you happened to catch @elizepequeno’s brilliant film on Vancouver, you’ll have seen that the football roots in this city run deep, and the local Whitecap-supporting community would rival any set of fans for their faith and devotion.

BC Place will host at least two Canada games, firstly against Qatar and then Switzerland, and if the co-hosts succeed, we may well see them back there in the Round of 32 and Quarter-finals. Otherwise, New Zealand, Egypt, Australia, and Belgium will descend on the city with fans following behind them. All can expect to find a lively city with plenty to do, all sorts of varied food and drink options, and absolutely stunning scenery. Get yourself a pastry at Cafe Soccavo and a pint at Dublin Calling and pat yourself on the back for making your way to one of the best cities to watch the 2026 World Cup.
