Better late than never, finally posting this list

10. Desolus
-If you go to shows in the DMV you know about these guys. They show their obvious Kreator, Sodom, Slayer influences without sounding like a retro thrash band at all, while sounding raw & amazing unlike most modern thrash bands.

9. Malignancy
-Bdm legends still making great albums, the combo of Ron Kachnic's catchy & iconic pinch harmanic riffs with Danny Nelson's dramatic vocals will always be cool af. They're joined by Defeated Sanity's goated bassist Jacob Schmidt, making the album that much better.

8. Midnight
-Athenar's style of mixing speed and black metal always results in super fun, catchy, epic anthemic songs.

7. Submerged
-Pretty straight forward stuff, but the drums are what makes this album stand out imo. Super fast blasts, crazy fills, awesome beats, and an amazing snare sound.

6. Regurgitated Entrails
-Same vocalist and same guitarist of Submerged, but here they're heavier. The gutturals are especially brutal here. Great young bdm bands these 2, interested to see them improve upon these.

5. Effluence
-Matt Stephens is one of the most unique extreme music musicians. Super crazy, suffocating, chaotic, brutal stuff, with jazz & noise elements.

4. Cemetery R***st
-Clay Lemanski is a legend of the underground, with his unique style of mixing with it with heavy slam riffs, raw production, twisted dark humor, and his goated iconic cricket vocals.

3. Defeated Sanity
-The best "modern" bdm band (unc status
now tbh), this album is yet another great one. Lille Gruber and Jacob Schmidt are still the best rhythm section in dm today.

2. Theurgy
-This international bdm supergroup has a super unique mix of an otherwordly & brutal sound. Catchy, bright, and super technical guitars & bass + brutal, heavy, insane vocals & drums.

1. Ulcerate
-The 3 bald kings. The dissonant wall of sound of Ulcerate has some of the very best playing in dm, with Michael Hoggard's hypnotizing, catchy, odd, massive riffs, Jamie Saint-Merat's insane, technical, endless drum fills, and Paul Kelland's heavy, atmospheric vocals. Results in a grand epic sound, the perfect mix of technicality, heaviness, and emotion.
