Words cannot express how truly grateful we are for everyone who showed up and showed out for our first Black Beauty Room & Awards! We hope that you felt seen, celebrated and heard!

Thank you @LegacyWestPlano for not only believing in our vision but giving us literal space to make it a reality! Thank you @LeahFrazier for bringing us into the room.

Thank you to our honorees @naturallyisis @iam_jonathan_ #AprilHolt @autumn_cby @mahisha_dellinger for trusting and allowing us to celebrate you!

Thank you to our panelists @MahiriTakai @TashaEdinbyrd #naturallyisis @afrockin

This could not have been pulled off without a small, but mighty team who did the heavy lifting:
@KimberlySteward who served as art director as well as makeup artist alongside hairstylist @cdubdstylist_ for our Sadiaa models, @a_nicoledaily who stepped in as an amazing host. @heavlightexperience who flew in to help us move mountains.

Thank you to @J3Productions_, who provided three gorgeous models-- @cheryl_the_model, @kynedichrystine, @Parisebone, from his agency.

and of course our vendors, and every single person who showed us love and support. We are truly thankful!

Stay tuned for pics, videos, recaps and more! This is just the beginning!

I salute Tabitha Brown. Her calm response to Wendy Williams was just how she is in life. Calm, measured and full of life/love/positivity. I feel blessed to have met her, shared a meal and just listened to her and take in her energy. She was gracious enough to share her thoughts on natural hair and Hollywood for our Docu-Series "Take Back The Crown".....coming soon!

The Denton Black Film Festival (DBFF) is putting the spotlight on the power of Black beauty as part of its 2021 lineup. This Friday, DBFF will host an exclusive screening of the upcoming docuseries Take Back The Crown.

Get a first look at the series’ first episode showcasing the struggles and triumphs of Black women as they celebrate their natural kinks and curls. The docuseries also captures the perspectives of natural hair and beauty heavyweights as they explore the Black beauty industry’s economic impact as Black women spend upwards of $500 billion on everything from hair and skin care to weaves and beauty tools.

SheaMoisture founder Richelieu Dennis, CURLS founder/CEO Mahisha Dellinger, celeb hairstylist Larry Sims, and Mielle Organics founder Monique Rodriquez.

Director Michael Grayson and executive producer Tasha Edinbyrd said their goal is for “Take Back The Crown to become the definitive natural hair documentary.”

After the screening, DBFF consultant Frances Punch will moderate a discussion with Grayson and Edinbyrd along with three other voices from the series, including celeb hairstylist Monaè Everett, Maison 276 founder Angel Cornelius, and Sadiaa founder Stephenetta (isis) Harmon.

The virtual screening will begin Friday, January 29, at 8 pm CST. The post-screening discussion will take place immediately after, at 9:15 pm.

The screening is included for free in all of DBFF’s screening packages or you can purchase an individual screening pass for $9.99. For more information, visit dentonbff.com.
