HUMBER STYLECON 2024 📣🤩

StyleCon was a styling event and expo in collaboration with Humber’s LGBTQ+ Resource Centre. It was organized by the graduating class of the Fashion Arts and Business program and Professor Brendan Yhip’s event planning class. StyleCon presented live styling examples (on student models) of how the student body can elevate their outfits for F/W;

ALL looks styled by 4 of StyleCon’s very own! After the presentation, guests were given time to shop the lovely vendor tables and their beautiful products.

LETS HERE FROM PROJECT MANAGER KIERA BLOCH:

“The creative freedom and collaboration with the Resource Centre were big contributors to what made StyleCon so special. Numerous attendees shared that StyleCon was the FIRST of its kind at Humber, showing how impactful the team’s creative freedom was for the event’s takeaway. Throughout the entire process, we had the pleasure of working alongside Matthew Travill and the LGBTQ+ Resource Centre to raise awareness for the Centre’s cause, goals, offerings, and existence for the student body. To further our support, the vendors donated 10% of all proceeds earned from the event to Humber’s scholarship program for Queer students. As well, our photo booth area highlighted Queer designer and industry expert Ross Mayer, and some of his beautiful pieces. This collaboration was the first event that worked with the Resource Centre, which was a great honour for StyleCon’s members.

My favourite part of putting this event together was the camaraderie it created between my peers and I. The planning process for StyleCon fostered supportive relationships that may not have otherwise had opportunity to flourish. The teamwork, respect, shared creativity, and passion made every step/goal exciting, attainable, and successful. It was a beautiful process, especially credited to Professor Brendan’s guidance and support for all of us. They all made the whole thing enjoyable!” -Kiera Bloch - Stylecon Project Manager
