THE GRAFT BEFORE THE SHOW. 🎭

Before the lights. Before the audience. Before it all comes together.

There’s the graft.

The hours spent in rehearsal. Asking questions. Pulling characters apart and putting them back together. Understanding where they’ve come from, what they carry, how they move, how they speak and the world they exist in.

Our cast have been putting in the time, doing the work and pushing themselves to make sure that when they step into that space, they’re not just performing the words they understand who they are.

This is the bit people don’t always see.

The repetition. The discoveries. The mistakes. The breakthroughs. The world building.

A little BTS of what it takes to get performance ready.

WE BROUGHT CARNIVAL TO BRITAIN IN OUR BONES
- Darcus Howe

Before the costumes.
Before the sound systems.
Before the streets filled with colour.

There were people.
There was memory.
There was resistance.
There was joy.

Carnival is more than a celebration. It is an inheritance | Carried across oceans, through generations, and into the streets of West London.

This August, Monolithic Theatre brings those stories to the stage.

FOUR CARNIVAL 🌴🎭

It’s getting VERY real now.

Next Friday, we bring FOUR CARNIVAL to Ladbroke Hall — five intimate performances bringing together theatre, live music, storytelling and Carnival.

For me, being from Ladbroke Grove makes this one especially personal. Carnival is more than a weekend. It’s identity. Migration. Memory. Resistance. Music. Community. And JOY.

I’m so excited for you to finally see what our actors, writers, musicians and entire creative team have been building behind the scenes.

BTS with Tara Hoyos Martinez ✨

There’s something incredibly special about watching this piece continue to evolve day by day.

Tara is not only an incredible artist, but also my Colombian sister ❤️ and I’m so proud watching her bring Eternity Is A Long Time to life with such honesty, elegance and emotional depth.

The care, vulnerability and artistry she continues to pour into this work is genuinely inspiring, and it’s been beautiful witnessing the journey of this piece through rehearsals and collaboration together.

One night only.
