We are thrilled to spotlight our current Artist-in-Residence, Karoline, @onlykaroline and the multifaceted creative energy they bring to The Nicholson Project. 🎭✨ Karoline’s work spans the full spectrum of storytelling from the director’s chair on their short film How Do We Leave, to captivating performances on stage and screen in projects like PIPPI. Whether they are directing, acting, or preparing for their next role through self-tapes, their dedication to the craft is inspiring! ——— ID: A series of five images captures Karoline‘s versatile work as they directs a living room scene for How do we leave, acts on a bedroom set for PIPPI, and poses playfully on a cruise-themed TV set with a blue screen. #tnpresidency#nicholsonproject#dmv#ward7#artistinresidence

The Bureau's final event of the year is tonight, Dec. 21, at 7 pm: TELL: Fighting! Join us for some festive rage and queer holigay spirit! TELL is a monthly queer storytelling show hosted and curated by Drae Campbell. It is the longest running event at the Bureau! 10 years and going. Each month there is a different theme and a different line up of queer artists who tell true stories from their lives on a theme. The theme for December is Fighting, featuring storytellers Anthony Caronna, KAROLINE, and Fernando Vieira. This event will take place in person at the Bureau of General Services—Queer Division, on the second floor (room 210) of The LGBT Community Center, 208 W. 13th St., NYC, 10011. Registration is not required. Seating is first come, first served. Also live-streaming on the Bureau’s YouTube channel: youtube.com/@bgsqd Suggested donation to benefit the storytellers and the Bureau: $10. All are welcome to attend, with or without a donation. We will pass a bag for donations at the start of the event, but we can also take credit card donations at the register or on Venmo @BGSQD

“Love you more than any-any-anything.” — MJ Kaufman, Fireside Dances 🔥 @breakingthebinarytheatre is doing theatre the only way I want to do it for the rest of forever (including but not limited to… living wages!). Not to get too highkey but @mjkaufmanster’s play feels like the literal blood in my veins and the stars in the sky. New friends deep bonds & the feeling of knowing some unspoken thing intrinsically and instantly together. “We know who we are by our fireside dances.” Thank you for leading us into deep time and back intrepid director @ayagwa, for holding down the freaking fort SM extraordinaire @hey_its_angela_s and thank you forever BTB superheroes @georgestrus @esmemariang @mxflowertortilla @charliehano for building this hot and talented community!!! 📸: Dillon Heape @dillonheape

Hi, all week I’ve gotten to workshop a weird new play w a dreamt team, come see what we’ve cooked up tomorrow night, there’ll be cavemen, song and gnarly family relationships! tickets free, reading is sold out but don’t let that deter you, BTB has historically gotten everyone in! Aaaand of course when I am writing these days I am always thinking of another writer, my former student @ahmed_elqattawi who is fundraising for the survival of his family in Gaza and for their ability to rebuild their lives as soon as that becomes possible. Please consider giving, link in bio!
