Day 16 of Songs I’ve Written and/or Produced! 🎶🔥 Today I’m featuring “Greater Purpose Again”! This is one of them “messed us up in rehearsal” songs! 😂 This one was inspired by my pastor at the time, Bishop Bryant Martin, @MrWarcry. We used to travel all over as a preacher/musician duo, and when it was driving distance, we’d bring our praise team led by the one and only @jnardmusic On one engagement, we got stuck on a melody and some words Bishop prompted, almost like a hymn. When I got home, that melody wouldn’t leave me alone, so I started flipping it and wrote a whole song! By Monday rehearsal (YES, Monday rehearsal! 😂), I started experimenting with a classical/Jazz/Spiritual chamber choir sound for the intro. This was around 2005, WAY before Anthony Brown dropped a CD! No shade 😂 I’ve had people say I was doing an Anthony Brown thing. Nahhh, y’all know Steve McCoy be trying ANYTHING! 🤣 We finally recorded it around 2008 in @Mobass1019’s basement on the 2480! 😊 Most of my singers were classically trained, so they ate that arrangement up! I listened to ALL kinds of music back then, and one of my favorite bands was Dream Theater. I heard something similar in their sound and thought, why not try it in gospel?! I asked who should lead it, and @JimmothyJay suggested the perfect voice: Andrea Albert! And Yooo, she RIPPED IT! 🔥🙌🏾 Sadly, this is one of those songs we NEVER got mixed or released. But I think it’s time to revisit this one too! WHAT Y’ALL THINK?! Should I revisit it or nah?! 👀🔥 🎹 Band & Production Credits Producer/Arranger/Writer/Organ/Aux: Steve McCoy Co-Producer/Bass/Aux/Guitar: @Mobass1019 Drums: @Bam1218 Keys: @jbeastproductions Vocal Arrangement: Steve McCoy Vocal Producer: @JimmothyJay #SongsIveWrittenAndProduced #GreaterPurposeAgain #Writers #Producers #SteveMcCoy

Day 15 of Music I’ve Written and/or Produced! 🎶🔥 Today I’m sharing a moment in time with FAMILY! Greater Purpose was/is my family! We cried together, sang together, had all-night prayers and breakout sessions before it was a thing 😂🙌🏾. We shared real life, real topics, and had some of the BEST church right there in rehearsal! This song is one we started recording around 2008ish, with @Mobass1019 on the 2480! 😂 We recorded SO MUCH music that never came out or was even mixed! 🥴 I wrote this song from top to finish during rehearsal, and it became a BOP! @Marvinmccoyjr would lead it live, but when we recorded it, I felt like my little sister @Mrs_muffsings (Muff) should lead it. GREAT CHOICE! 🙌🏾 I remember sitting with @Mobass1019, arranging the song, and calling the team in to record! Chicken Box on deck, half-and-half, and we was GOOD! 😂😂 BALTIMORE THINGS! 🦀 We called the singers in and let @JimmothyJay do his thing! 😂 We were really doing this back then with NO REAL CLUE what we were doing! Now, many of these folks in these pictures are singing with some of your favorite and most notable artists around the world, gospel AND secular! And @JimmothyJay? My cousin is now a VOCAL PRODUCER EXTRAORDINAIRE and owns his own vocal company, @Truevoicemusiccollective! Oh, did I mention I TAUGHT HIM? 😂😂 When we were kids, he actually thought I could sing! FIRST COUSIN STUFF! 🩸🤣🤣 This song still speaks to me, and the sound and message are STILL relevant! I think I might have to revisit this one soon! 👀🔥 It’s available on an old mixtape I released called “BLESSINGS” — available on most streaming platforms! CREDITS 🎹🎸🥁 * Producer/Arranger/Writer/Organ/Aux/Vocal Arrangement: Steve McCoy * Co-Producer/Bass/Aux/Arranger/Guitar: @Mobass1019 * Keys: @jbeastproductions or @willmcmillaniii 🤷🏾‍♂️😂 * Drums: @Bam1218 * Vocal Producer: @JimmothyJay * Mixed: NEVER! 🥴🤗😂 #Day15 #SteveMcCoy #GreaterPurpose #MusicMemories #Blessings

October is Pastor Appreciation Month. 💜 The weight of pastoring is real. ✨️ Behind every sermon is preparation. ✨️ Behind every prayer is concern for someone else. ✨️ Behind every smile can be exhaustion, grief, disappointment, responsibility, and battles most people will never see. Pastors carry families, marriages, funerals, hospital rooms, crises, decisions, finances, expectations, and the spiritual well-being of people they genuinely love—while still carrying their own families and personal struggles. So, during Pastor Appreciation Month, don’t just celebrate the preaching. Pray for the person behind the pulpit. Encourage them. Check on them. Give them grace. Remind them that they don’t have to be strong every moment. Sometimes, the shepherd needs shepherding, too. ❤️🙏🏾 To every pastor carrying more than people know: May God strengthen you for the weight of the call and remind you that your labor is not in vain.
