Great day on the Thames River with an awesome group from @onplanetpatrol Every year ape2o donates 10% of all sales to ocean, river and marine life conservation and clean up programs - that’s our “10% Promise”. This month ape2o sponsored two Planet Patrol river cleanup events in Richmond as part of our “10% Promise”. If you haven’t heard of Planet Patrol, you need to check them out. “Through citizen science, community action and its free app, Planet Patrol is helping people monitor pollution in our blue and green spaces, filling critical data gaps and turning what communities see on the ground into evidence for change. By making environmental data more accessible, Planet Patrol is giving people the tools to better understand the places they care about, take action and help shape a healthier future for our planet.” Look for an upcoming post where we share data about these two river plastic cleanups. In the meantime, go to Planet Patrol to sign up for one of their other upcoming events near you or make a direct donation to support them. At ape2o we don’t just say we’re fighting back against plastic, we actually do it! Richmond is one of the locations in the UK where you can find an ape2o water refill dispenser at the Richmond Train Station. Never have to buy another plastic bottled water again! How clean is the river? It’s a fair question and one that we are asked from time to time. After yesterday’s Planet Patrol Clean Up, setting off from @theswanatstreatley we’re pleased to report that this stretch of the Thames seems pretty clean! 🦆 We saw, & heard, an abundance of wildlife - dragonfly, fish, kingfisher & heron. And shared stories of recent otter sightings - this has got to be a good sign of a healthy river 🌿 And, as you can see from these photos, our litter haul was minimal 😊 long may this last! Thank you to our wonderful volunteers for supporting @onplanetpatrol and being great company! This is such an inspiring community of outdoor loving people, helping to keep UK waterways clean & free from pollution 💙 @brennymcn @dianelaw2020 @svaug

There’s still time to join our Planet Patrol Clean Up this Saturday 26th 3:00pm at The Swan at Streatley. It’s the last one this year for us, and we think it’s a great way to thank the river for all the amazing days we have enjoyed this summer 🌿 If you would like to join us, please sign up via @onplanetpatrol website, just search for Clean Ups and you will find this event. Huge thanks to @coppaclub @theswanatstreatley for providing our hard working litter pickers with teas & coffees!

Not every session is about the miles. Sunday’s Planet Patrol was our most productive this year more than 400 items removed from the river in an hour. While it was only one bag full, it was all the pieces that get ingested by the wildlife. All logged in the @onPlanetPatrol App

Bank holiday weekend on the River Thames. Sometimes we have to change our plans. Saturday we’ve paused. The much needed rain has arrived so we’ve taken the day off. Lauren’s SUPyoga, moved but not missed. And quietly, in the background, September is already taking shape. Swipe through for the full weekend on the water. See you on the River. Every day is a good day for a litter pick, particularly when using @onplanetpatrol litter recording app ✨ Not only are you helping to clean up your local area, but by recording rubbish collected you’re providing Planet Patrol with the data they need to continue to hold polluting companies to account 💪 Solo litter picking is one of the activities I’ve been doing to help me feel a little bit more grounded and like I’m contributing to a wider movement… so why not give it a go? 💚 Download the Planet Patrol app and let me know how you get on! x

Tickets for The River Summit on 4th September are going fast and we really do not want you to miss this one! This year we have four programmes running across Henley Town Hall, and each one has been designed to do something a little different. The Council Chambers goes deeper, with workshops and conversations designed to get into the detail, ask the awkward questions and actually work some things out together. The updated* Queen Elizabeth II Hall brings together scientists, lawyers, activists, politicians, industry leaders and citizen scientists for a day of panels, talks and debate on the issues that matter most in water right now. We also believe that art has a vital role to play in all of this. Science and policy can tell us what is happening to our rivers. Art makes us feel it. This year creative work sits at the heart of the Summit, because the people who have always been closest to nature are often the ones who express it most powerfully. From filmmakers to painters to storytellers, wild art and loud truth go hand in hand. 🎨 The Testing the Waters Consortium showcases what happens when technology meets grassroots action, with real data from real rivers collected by the people who know them best. The Committee Room where we can really get stuck in with learning and participation. And in the evening, the Rivers of Film Festival takes over, because some stories are best told on screen. More details to come >> 🎬 This year we are particularly excited to have some brilliant investigative journalists joining us, bringing the kind of rigorous, independent scrutiny that water in this country urgently needs. Expect honest conversations and a few uncomfortable and surprising truths. Huge thanks to @henleytowncouncil for providing this beautiful venue, @yetieurope and our partners for supporting us 🙏🏻💪 If you care about rivers, this is your room. Tickets are still available but not for long. Get yours now via the link in bio. 🎟️

[PR] SHARE THIS 🙏 I joined a @onplanetpatrol cleanup activity in London, a UK non-profit that turns everyday people into citizen scientists through its free app and community waterway surveys. You can get involved by logging litter you find, reporting sewage spills, and recording water quality data like pH, temperature and nutrient levels to help build a clearer picture of pollution across rivers, canals and other local waterways. The idea is simple: if you see it, record it, and add to real environmental data that can support action. Planet Patrol runs activities across the UK, so if you’re interested in local environmental action, it’s worth checking their app and website for nearby clean-ups, Water Patrol kits, or observational surveys. #LondonActivities #paddleboardinglondon #paddleboarding #thingstodolondon #LondonEvents | Where can I do paddle boarding in London?
