Day in the life. This is what most of our work week entails recently. Thanks to Metro Van for having us along for this maintenance. It’s incredible working along side this team. Getting it done. One hand built berm at a time! #dayforit #workweek #professionaltrailbuilders #northshore

Part one - Robust tread, this trail has seen decades of hard work. So much effort has gone into keeping this classic riding well over the years. Thanks to all those that came before us and we are grateful for Metros commitment to preserving this North Shore Jewel.

A Little Resto-Fun over the Snowy Season

Was gifted a rad frame with a few bits and bobs still hung off it from my Brother from Another Mother, @celer_solutions out in North Van two seasons back.

I was going to turn it into a wall hangar given its OG Shore History by way of @ontopbikeshop and what not, but that just didnt feel right to let this Four Twenty just get relegated to the looking glass.
So with some time to Kill during the slow season at the Shop, She was Resurrected to Rideability via the scrap metal bin, a few take off donor bits, and some ingenuity.

She kept her stock bars, chunky as' stem, Oury grips, and some other parts.
For Locomotion, I Rigged her up on some ghetto singlespeed action via a 14t Cog and a bunch of cassette spacers from the scrap bin to get the chainline dead on in the 36t chainring, reused the old Deore XT derailleur as a chain tensioner held in position via a hank of brake cable. Kept the original 26" rear hoop and its sweet Panaracer FireXC rubber which was dry rot free and aired up happily on a mid 2000's tube. Kept the sweet as @raceface White 3x crankset but binned the seized front derailleur. Serviced the old @manitoumtb 125mm XVert DC fork and slapped in a 26" donor wheel out front courtesy of @gearheadspetawawa rolling on some choice Hutchinson rubber. Swapped the old shimano mech disc caliper to the rear end with a scrap bin 140mm rotor, and tossed the Deore LX rim brake set up from the rear out on the front end with some fresssh housing for a bit of flare.

Rolls well. Stops quick. And that skinny dual crown fork is suprisingly stiff.

Hella Neato Gang. This is gonna get me in some Air Time Trouble...

An OG Shore Classic is ready to rock as a pumptrack party pony and dirty li'l dirtjump unit, which will come in handy with some of my other endavours later this spring.

So, Welcome the Four Twenty to the fleet,
And now Im up to 5 bikes... 😅

Keep Doin' Work
