I am beyond grateful for being a part of the Junior District Attorney’s Mentorship Program’s 5th cohort. I was one of 55 students who were hand picked into this position. Throughout these 2 weeks, I have been able to meet so many professionals and understand the hand of the law through their eyes and see how their job allows them to do what is required to keep our community safe, secure, and functional. Additionally meeting other interns who come from all sorts of backgrounds wanting to go down numerous paths in their career was amazing to see. In the end, I was able to make stronger bonds and had some self realization on how I want to conduct my life. Additionally with our Mock Trial, it further solidified my want to pursue the field of law. My goal is to become a Criminal Prosecutor and this experience gave me an idea of what skills I already had and what I could improve on. None of this would have been possible had it not been for Madam @patsy4da who came up with this entire idea for the program and Mr. Terrell Patrick for facilitating the entire internship (keeping us on our toes for what’s next). Furthermore, thank you to our mentors and every guest speaker that came to speak with us on certain skills. I know with full clarity that everyone who participated in this internship will do big things in big places! I hope to return next year for more exciting work and experiences.
