Red rocks, sheer cliffs, and absolute gravity-defying masters: Meet the Desert Bighorn Sheep of western Colorado!
While most people picture bighorns high up in the snowy Rockies, their desert cousins thrive in some of the most rugged, arid canyons across western Colorado—from the towering red walls of Colorado National Monument to the deep river gorges down south.

Planning to explore western CO soon? Keep your eyes glued to the canyon walls (especially early or late in the day) and always keep your distance with a telephoto lens or binoculars to protect these incredible animals!

Have you ever spotted a bighorn out on the trails? Let me know below! 👇

Headed North for the opener in the Empire State of NY. Put some miles on, and came home with some birds. Great views and good company! Now we shift focus to our state opener!

Dear onX,

Instead of trying to convince you with another cover letter, I wanted to show you how I think.

Marketing has been my career. Exploring public lands has become my life. This role feels like the place where those two paths meet.

For the past 5+ years, I’ve helped brands tell meaningful stories through strategic marketing. Over the last year and a half, I’ve been living on the road full-time, exploring public lands across North America, showing me firsthand why access and stewardship matter.

I don’t just want to market a product.

I want to help tell stories that encourage people to get outside, recreate responsibly, and protect the places that make those adventures possible.

That’s why I’m so excited about this opportunity. It isn’t just a role I think I’d be good at—it’s one I genuinely believe in.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope we get the chance to connect.

CLOSED TO YOU. OPEN TO HUNTERS.

Here’s a question the public deserves an answer to.

Valles Caldera restricts ordinary visitors from driving the interior roads during certain closure periods. Yet hunters are granted vehicle access to those same roads, including extended access.

So what exactly is the justification for closing the roads to the general public while allowing another group to drive them?

If the concern is road conditions, are the roads different for hunters?

If it’s vehicle safety, do the roads become safer depending on who’s behind the wheel?

If it’s protecting resources, how are these different access rules evaluated?

We recognize that hunting may require different operational arrangements. But those arrangements deserve a clear explanation, especially when the same public roads are inaccessible to other visitors.

Public access shouldn’t be an unexplained privilege.

Why can one group drive these roads while everyone else is turned away?

Free Valles Caldera. Access for all.

Let’s turn “we should” into “remember when.”

Gear up. Get out. Stay Dusty. 🤘

WE ARE ALL THE PUBLIC. WHY IS ACCESS DIFFERENT?

Hunters are members of the public. So are anglers, hikers, campers, photographers, and wildlife watchers.

At Valles Caldera, hunters can receive access to designated interior roads, 24-hour access during hunts, and camping opportunities throughout the Preserve.

Why shouldn’t the rest of the public have more opportunities to experience our National Preserve, too?

If interior roads can be opened for authorized recreation, why can’t more of those roads be made accessible to other visitors? If overnight camping can be accommodated for one group, why not develop responsible options for others? If 24-hour access can be managed for authorized users, why not explore expanded hours for the rest of the public?

Different activities may require different rules. Protecting wildlife and sensitive resources matters. But different rules should have a clear purpose—not simply leave the general public with fewer opportunities by default.

We’re not asking to take access away from hunters. We’re asking NPS to expand meaningful access for everyone.

We are all members of the public. We all deserve a serious discussion about how to experience our National Preserve.

89,000 acres. Public land. ACCESS FOR ALL.
