🌎International Cultural Festival 2025 at UC Berkeley🌎

This year’s International Cultural Festival, hosted by the International House at UC Berkeley, marked the first time representing Austria at our very own booth!

🎉 The festival is a celebration of Berkeley’s diverse student community, offering a unique opportunity to share and learn about cultures from around the world. With over 20 countries from five continents represented through many dance performances and traditional attire, it was truly an enriching experience.

🇦🇹 Being part of this celebration was not only inspiring, but also incredibly rewarding, because it gave us a chance to showcase Austrian culture and heritage to an international audience, spark curiosity, and connect with people from all corners of the world who were eager to learn and engage.

A big thank you to Daniela R. for co-hosting the booth with us! 🤝

We’re very proud to have shared a bit of what Austria has to offer and we are already looking forward to next year’s celebration!

Kärntner Landesjugendchor (Carinthian State Youth Choir) in San Francisco!

On July 11, 2024, the Kärntner Landesjugendchor, led by Bernhard Wolfsgruber, Doris Aichholzer, Florian Pirolt und Eva Hoffmann, performed at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. The choir, consisting of 55 talented young singers (ages 17-28), created a „Choral Bridge“ between the West Coast and Austria. After their performance, the choir met with Austrians in the Bay Area and intoned some Carinthian folk songs.

About the Choir:
The Kärntner Landesjugendchor was founded in 2005 in co-operation with the choir society “Kärntner Sängerbund” and the federal state government to give young and talented singers from all over the region the opportunity to improve their musical abilities together with others of similar age. It impresses with international successes and concert tours, including South Africa and Japan.

Celebrating Pride Month with our community partners at the @irelandinsf Consulate General of Ireland San Francisco! Thank you to Consul General Micheál Smith! Always wonderful to share a fun moment with our friends from the @sfprotocol: Chief of Protocol @maryammuduroglu , @meronfoster and @_liston_ ! ⭐️💯🇮🇪

AND special thanks to Isabella Tomás - Austrian Consul @openaustriasf in San Francisco for showing me the basics of the Viennese Waltz! 💃🏻🕺🏼

Fun fact:

Ireland was the first country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage through a popular vote. On May 22, 2015, a referendum was held, and 62% of the voters supported the legalization of same-sex marriage. This led to the passing of the Marriage Act 2015, which came into effect on November 16, 2015. 🌈🇮🇪
