Excuse the finger…Old guy on the socials.

Today is Sweet Chuck’s Vinyl Day Party!

Saturday plans = handled. 🎶

We’re running it back at Soul Side Vinyl with a full day of selectors, records, good people, and neighborhood energy.

@djsweetchuck has put it down for the San Diego music scene for decades. Let’s have some fun for him and show him how much we appreciate his contributions to the hip hop scene. From bringing in some of the biggest names in hip hop to SD to holding 3535 Adams Ave with Soul Shack, he left a legacy that SSV is building on and we will always be grateful.
🙏🏽🩸🙏🏽
He has been crazy gracious to me, a rookie business owner, mentoring me…sharing his network…helping me get on my feet with the record store. Thank you and we will always support you, Chuck! Fair winds and Following Seas!

📅 October 22
📍 The Magnolia — El Cajon

If you know Troupeau Bleu, you already know. If you don’t, this is the perfect time to dig into one of those groups whose fingerprints can be heard all over hip-hop and sample culture.

This one is for the jazz heads, beat heads, producers, DJs, diggers, and anyone who loves finding the source material.

Stay Tuned! We will be giving away 2 pairs of tickets to the show during a listening event soon!

SOUL SIDE VINYL IS HERE. 📍

For our first Adams Avenue Street Fair, we’re bringing one of my favorite MCs of all time and an iconic producer to Normal Heights: the legendary MASTA ACE, alongside MARCO POLO.

Our first in-store performance was the legendary DJ Qbert. Now, in that same first year, we get to welcome another hip-hop icon to the Soul Side stage (on the intersection of Wilson and Adams). Having two of my personal favorites rock with us this early has been a blessing—and we hope the community has enjoyed these moments as much as we’ve enjoyed putting them together.

This one hits different for me. Disposable Arts is one of my favorite albums and I can run it’front to back. I’ve talked about it during Soul Side Selects and put it on the table at our Hear Me Out event. That joint stayed in heavy rotation for months after its release and still gets plenty of burn. Now we get to hear the man behind it live on Adams Avenue.

No disrespect to anybody who has touched the Street Fair stages before—but this is by far the most legendary act —MASTA ACE AND MARCO POLP— in the history of the Adams Avenue Street Fair since 1992. 🤫 And if I can get more traction on booking for more of these stages, I’ll chase down ‘92 as well!

This is the jump-off. More artists. More culture. More heavyweight shows moving into next year. We’re building something on Adams Avenue, and we’re just getting started.

Pull up early. Stay late. Bring the whole crew.

Culture. Community. Consciousness.

CLASSIC. LEGENDARY. FULFILLING.

Hearing Qbert & Shortkut talk about how fulfilling this night was meant everything because THAT was the point.

This wasn’t just another show. This was for the CULTURE & COMMUNITY.

DJs. Breaking. Art. Music. OGs next to the next generation. Different scenes sharing one room.

Music & dance are more than entertainment—they’re an escape, a connection, and a huge part of our lives.

We want to keep bridging gaps between genres, generations & communities.

Huge THANK YOU to @djqbert & @shortkut for blessing the stage and giving SD your energy.

@kendothedj & @alyssadashbeth , thank you for ALWAYS supporting SSV.

SAMIA! We threw curveball after curveball at you and you never blinked—you dug in and WENT YARD. ⚾️ THANK YOU!

Thank you @queenbeessd and every artist, DJ, dancer, breaker, vendor & creative who made this night what it was.

To the ENTIRE SSV TEAM—people saw one night. They didn’t see the MONTHS of planning, DMs, changes, loading, problem solving & preparation. This doesn’t happen without you.

Massive love to @hkaudio_official & @reloopdj for POWERING the event, and every #FriendsOfTheCulture business, artist & individual who donated and supported us. 🙏🏽

🎥 Video: Ronek @got.no.control — thank you for capturing the night!

And SD…KEEP COMING OUTSIDE.
There are a million reasons not to pull up, but even more reasons TO.

Culture doesn’t survive on likes. It survives when people walk through the door.

Support the promoters. Venues. Small businesses. MCs. DJs. Dancers. Artists. Event coordinators. Support EVERYONE putting on for this town.

We can’t bridge gaps or introduce this culture to new people without showing up for each other.

SSV didn’t invent anything. We put our spin on what Hip-Hop has always done. If this inspires somebody else to throw a show—DO IT. Make it bigger. Make it better. Make it different. Give somebody else a platform.

Because it’s not about me or SSV.
It’s about creating spaces where SD’s dope creatives can BE SEEN & BE HEARD.

Culture. Community. Consciousness.

NEXT UP…
🍎 CRIMEAPPLE @ SODA BAR?!
🎤 MASTA ACE @ ADAMS AVE STREET FAIR!
👀 AND MORE…

KEEP COMING OUTSIDE.
