Today we were treated to both a wine story and a music set by Phaedra Brucato, AKA Pip, of Optimum Volume. Phaedra first became interested in wine working at a fine dining restaurant in Boston, where she realized that wine tied together many of her passions. By studying wine, sharing wine with others, and eventually making wine of her own, she could both have an avenue for creativity and challenge herself to keep learning. Phaedra grew up along the west coast, moving from Seattle to southern Oregon, before attending college on the east coast. She went to Tufts University for International Language and Visual Studies, and studying abroad in China helped her to see beverage as a form of art and poetry. After working in nearly every aspect of the wine industry - distribution, restaurant beverage programs, harvest & cellar work - Phaedra now finds herself as a winemaker with her own brand, which she named Optimum Volume. She hopes with her wine brand and other work to help give people a chance to think about things differently. Tune in to hear about Phaedra’s journey in the wine industry in conjunction with her ambient music set - out soon on all OWHA channels!

Giddy up because we’re throwing a big one January 23rd, going down at Portland’s best above-ground underground: Statera Cellars. This is going to be a diabolically buoyant night of frequencies to be reckoned with. We’re welcoming Alien D @freeimageuploader to Portland for his first gig here in almost a decade as well as Seattle’s beloved Seelene @seelene______ These two weirdos each bring a unique idiosyncratic flavor to their performances, and we’re ecstatic to see what the night holds. Support comes from local disc jockeys @858fantasy , @__psoasdj and @pointnopoint (pip). Let the vortex consume you. Expect the natural wine to be flowing, accompanied by many carbonated delights that will fit snugly into any January drinking regimen ^_^ RA link is posted above with WAY MORE info about the artists, and a link to purchase tickets, or better yet, buy them from us directly so we can give more money to our wonderful performers. Advance tickets are only $15, which I’m pretty sure is what I got tricked into paying for a matcha latte at the airport last week. As always, if lack of funds inhibits your ability to attend, please reach out and we will work it out. Lets get rowdy <3

Assembly Theory is a party this Saturday September 20th directed at helping vineyard and winery workers in Oregon, especially those whose opportunities and livelihoods have been threatened or compromised by recent ICE activity. There is a lot of bad going down in the world right now and it can be difficult to gauge where to focus our energy when it comes to positive change but this feels like a worthy cause in light of recent political actions. This massive fundraiser is happening at 109 SE Salmon Street in inner Southeast at the Statera tasting room compound. Come early, come late, or just party the entire time — this event goes from 6pm - 2am with DJs setting the vibe from start to finish. In addition to music, expect some insane wines to be opened for glass pours, as well as a stacked raffle featuring gift certificates from some of our favorite Portland restaurants and wine bars, retail shops, clothing brands and some incredible large format and vintage wines! A more comprehensive list of all raffle items will be released soon, as well as some more details surrounding all of the generous donations we are receiving to be featured at the event! Massive thank you to our djs: @foto_haus @anamargaritabriseno @omie.wav @donchampsound @jonathanwerth @pointnopoint and friends! Hi-fi sound by @dj__oily and moebius Thank you @stateracellars for providing a dream space for the party! Cost of party will be a sliding scale donation starting at $10 (100% of door sales are going to charity) Raffle tickets will be $10/ea or 6 tickets for $50 (100% of raffle ticket sales will be going to charity) We will be donating all of our net profits from the bar. Please share with friends and family, we can’t wait to see you all!
