@baad_studio has a no nonsense approach to building climate responsive homes - it’s the only way to design and build in the tropics. A home should be able to withstand the heavy rains and strong winds while at the same time optimizing spaces for natural light and ventilation. Reflecting the client’s love for the outdoors and natural materials, the DL House designed by @benjmendoza and @ansbermejo of @baad_studio has an impressive use of textured stone for its walls and tanguile wood for its ceiling. Air pockets and light wells by way of courtyards bring in natural ventilation and light throughout the home. Large windows in minimal frames by @orama_philippines allows the home to enjoy the outdoors easier with no disruption. Benjee mentions that there is only so many strategies an architect can put in place for a more sustainable home and underscores the importance of a sustainable family as the biggest factor for a home to be sustainable. When @baad_studio - helmed by husband and wife Ar. @benjmendoza and Ar. @ansbermejo - designed the DL House, they wanted a structure that not only took into account their client’s personality but they wanted one that had an affordance to the environment where it sits.

Situated by a busy thoroughfare that can get quite loud, plant walls were erected to muffle the noise and provide privacy. With many typhoons hitting the Philippines yearly - with strong winds that can go as fast as 200 kph - BAAD Studios looked to the @orama_philippines window system. The Orama window system has a sleek and minimal frame and track system that blurs the line between indoors and outdoors. Beautifully made doors and partitions are elements that allow for a home to flow organically. If designed well, they become fulfilling portals to new experiences.

This year, Focus Global Inc. opened the ADL & ORAMA BGC Showroom at 11F Twenty-Four Seven McKinley, Taguig, showcasing their innovative doors and partitions that perfectly show how entering and leaving spaces can be a more magical experience.

Ambient sounds of people conversing, laughing, and sharing ideas filled the newly launched ADL and Orama BGC showroom last June 27. Distinguished architects and interior designers alike satiated their eyes with the revolutionary technology of interior and exterior glass doors, as well as the interactive 3D artworks showcased on the facade of select pieces.

“This artistic feature not only represents the endless possibilities our doors offer but also reflects ADL and Orama's creativity, merging technology and design, as well as our deep appreciation for nature,” explains Jhoanna Dorillo, Focus Global Inc.’s Director for Sales & Design Division. “Sustainability, being a key focus for ADL, uses 100% recyclable glass and aluminum for its primary materials, ensuring as little impact to the environment as possible.”
