I first met “Bear” at @poweratthepass for another art event. I was amazed by her talent and mesmerized and she hand carved wooden pieces to then transfer ink onto them then print on a paper. It was truly an amazing process. Her talent holds no bounds as she had a full size print on a linen fabric at Orange Brick. It was truly a masterpiece to see! 🖤💯

Had a blast in my first Art Fight! Only two hours to get a 30x40 canvas painting done and I’m very happy with the result. I did a four layered hot pink base coat. During the 2 hours i did the background textures with yellow and gold paint. I spent most of the time designing the San Pedro Cactus with running paint. The gold really makes the hot pink pop. My inspiration was 80’s punk rock, Andy Warhol Pop Art, and border vibes. Thank you @orange_brick_eclectic all ready going to a nice home. #cactusart #desertart #borderart #borderartist #hotpick #popartstyle #popart #2hourart #chucoart #elpasoartscene #southwestartists #texasart #localartistspotlight #elpasolocalartist #mexicanamericanart

“Burying Ghosts” by artist and poet @lapoeta915 at @orange_brick_eclectic

When I first entered this room I was floored by the raw emotions this space invoked. I sat down at a desk that was set up with an old journal and photo album that was setup for one to read. At first I was apprehensive to go thru it but something inside of me told to open them up. As I went thru her journal and album I was reminded of my own childhood. Some of my personal childhood dramas suddenly came flashing back. I had to hold back tears as people were walking thru the space. I turned around and looked at the makeshift grave she had set up and it was as if I myself was burying my past. It was a release I hadn’t felt in a long time. A sense of calmness then came over me and I begin to take the photos you see here. Thank you Cassie for sharing this amazing space and for allowing me to also bury and release my past. 🖤
