Ok so as of yesterday (July 2), I have been cosplaying for 5 YEARS!!! I can’t believe it’s been FIVE YEARS!!! I’ve learned so much over the years about cosplay, such as how to do makeup (I never did makeup w cosplay until like late 2019 rip), wig styling, and sewing! But most importantly, cosplaying has shown me how to be confident! Before I started cosplaying, I was honestly very insecure. And while I do still have insecurities, I’ve improved a lot since I started this journey. Being able to express myself freely was a huge confidence boost! And my way of doing that is cosplay! And that brings me to all the amazing friends I’ve made over the years. Because of cosplay, I’ve been able to make some of the best friends I’ve ever had. Before cosplay, I didn’t have any true, genuine friends. But since going to cons, and meeting new people, I can now say more than ever that I have a big circle of amazing friends who I never would’ve met if I started cosplaying. In 2019, I took a really long hiatus (like 6 or 7 months) because I was trying to pursue a religion that held me back from being who I am. And when I told my religious “friends” that I was cosplaying again, they cut me off. And it’s really comforting knowing that my friends that I have now would never do that. I have real friends who love me and have my best interest at heart. I never had that before. So I wanna thank all of my amazing friends from the bottom of my heart for just being there and loving me the way I am. Here’s to another amazing 5 years of cosplay!! (Also the photographers who took my Rey and denki are tagged) (as are some of my friends who I’ve made through my cosplay journey)
