Funny how the days I don’t feel like running are the days I set a new PR. And the days I have zero motivation for a long run somehow become my longest runs.🤦‍♂️

Hence, I’ve stopped trusting my mood before a run. It has a terrible track record. 😂🏃🏾‍♂️

Get the @shightvault SS26/2 Running Tights. Designed for comfort, built for performance, helping reduce thigh chafing and providing the support you need for every long run.

READ THE BACKSTORY TO THIS VIDEO 👇🏾👇🏾

Saturday mornings are usually reserved for two things: suffering and bad decisions disguised as fitness goals. So there we were, my friends and I dragging our tired legs through the final stretch of our long run, already celebrating mentally because we had technically hit our target.
Then, almost like a scene scripted by Netflix, she appeared.

A pretty young lady joined us out of nowhere, matching our pace for the last few meters. She was clearly fighting for her life, breathing hard, chest heaving, looking like oxygen had suddenly become a luxury item. But somehow, she still managed to smile.

Now, sensible people would probably have minded their business.
Unfortunately, I am not sensible after a run.

Acting purely on impulse, I grabbed her hand dramatically and said, “Come on, accept the challenge. Run with us to the finish!”

To my surprise, she laughed, nodded, and kept going.

And just like that, somewhere between exhaustion and endorphins, a stranger became part of the moment.

Seeing how friendly and open she was, I immediately began preaching the gospel according to our run club, @shight.runningclub . I told her about the community, the vibes, the madness disguised as cardio, and encouraged her to join us the next day. She agreed politely, and honestly, I thought that would be the end of it. You know how people say, “Sure, I’ll come,” then disappear like unpaid debtors.

But Angel (that's her name) shocked us all.

The next evening, she showed up.
With energy.
With vibes.
With courage.

It was her first real run, and trust me, the 6.3km did not pamper her. At some points, her legs were negotiating with her spirit. But our community rallied around her like a relay team carrying the hopes of a nation. We cheered her on, pushed her past her limits, and step by step, breath by breath… she finished the run. 💪

And honestly? Watching that felt better than crossing the finish line myself.

Now we wait, hoping this wasn’t a one-season appearance.
Because every great run club story deserves a sequel. 😁
