Forget what you thought you knew about police officers and donuts. It’s all about cookies 🍪 with cops 👮 now! The kids at Orem Junior High got a special treat as part of our community outreach program. Shout out to Dirty Dough for providing the sweets!

Since coming home from the hospital this week with now healthy Baby Savvy, my mind has continued to ponder the miracles we’ve seen. In each of these near disasters, we have always been safe. This fire at our home was now 4 years ago, Jan. 13, 2020. When I look back at the details, I have to recognize that we were being watched over. Had I not happened to look out our big window when I did, I wouldn’t have seen the curious amount of smoke that made me go outside to check. I wouldn’t then have gotten baby Laila out of my room where the window blew out, and things could have been so much worse. This event could have been tragic, but instead we will accept the term disastrous and count ourselves lucky.
When I play back in my head our spin-out on the freeway a month and a half ago, I don’t see a logical reason why we were not hit by anyone in the oncoming traffic. We came out of that experience completely unscathed after I had prayed for the tires, prayed that the other drivers around us would be aware of us. Why did I pray for those things? Those weren’t typical things I asked for on our drives to the airport, but I was prompted to pray for them that day. As terrifying as those moments were, the protection was tangible. Though it has been hard to get the what-if images out of my head since then, I’m comforted knowing that they weren’t my reality and that me, my kids, and my husband are here and safe.
When the semi truck slowly ripped through my car last year, at 8 months pregnant, as Laila and I were on our way to ballet class, I immediately pleaded for our safety, amid my screaming, and we were granted it then as well. Sweet Laila was so calm though. Bless her heart.
Each of these events have brought on a little more PTSD in my life, and I’m definitely more of a worrier than I used to be. I so badly wish that I didn’t have occasional intrusive thoughts, some of which are horrifying. But I have no choice but to count our blessings. I know accidents and events happen every day where people are much less fortunate. My heart truly aches for them.
How grateful I am to be able to classify each of these events as setbacks and not tragedies. #guardianangels #miracles
