POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
As June’s Pride Month comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on what Pride has come to mean to me.
For me, Pride has never been just a celebration. It has always been a practice of care. It is the quiet magic of creating where something is missing, of amplifying what has gone unheard, and of believing that everyone deserves to belong.
It lives in the choice to build community. In creating spaces where people feel safe enough to be themselves. To create. In listening deeply. In making room for joy, grief, difference, creativity, and everything in between. It lives in art.
It is why The Niche exists.
The Niche, since 2019, has been a place where artists are encouraged to experiment, take risks, tell stories, find connection, and be celebrated. A place built on the belief that creativity flourishes when people feel supported, seen, and cared for collaboratively.
That same belief has shaped my work as a researcher. My work asks how we care for one another as we age, how we honour those who came before us, and how we continue showing up for each other.
Pride reminds me that our history has always been written by people who cared for one another when institutions would not. People who built chosen families, shared what they had, made art, organized, protested, laughed, mourned, and refused to let each other disappear. My moms’ legacy.
Legacy has become central to everything I do. It asks us to keep stories alive. To create. To remember. To share. To protect one another. To make room for people to exist fully, loudly, quietly, joyfully, and authentically.
To every artist, musician, creative, friend, mentor, collaborator, and community member who has stepped through my door: thank you.
Thank you for trusting me with your stories. Thank you for your creativity, your generosity, your courage, your friendship, and your care.
You have shaped my life in ways I will never be able to fully express.
And thank you to my ever-growing chosen family—the people who remind me every day that love is something we build together.
Happy Pride.
Today and everyday. ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜
