Can we stop making filler the villain? 🖤

Hyaluronic acid fillers and biostimulators aren’t interchangeable, and they’re certainly not one-size-fits-all.

Every product has unique properties, indications, and limitations. Understanding rheology, how a filler behaves under different forces, is part of knowing which product belongs where, how much to use, and whether it’s appropriate for you in the first place.

And anatomy? Nonnegotiable.

We’re injecting into tissue planes we cannot directly see. That requires extensive anatomical knowledge, an understanding of vascular pathways, proper technique, and the ability to recognize and manage complications. Experience doesn’t give us literal X-ray vision, and no injector can eliminate every risk.

So when you come in requesting a specific filler because you’ve heard its name, let’s talk about what you’re actually trying to achieve.

Holiday prep starts earlier than you think 💉🖤
Here’s why:

•Neuromodulators need time. Botox/Dysport typically begin working within a few days, but the full effect can take around 2-3 weeks.

•Filler needs time to integrate. Swelling and bruising are normal after treatment, and your result can continue to soften and settle over the following weeks. You want to be healed not freshly injected in those holiday photos.

•Facial balancing is a process, not a one-day transformation. We’re looking at facial proportions, symmetry, volume distribution and how each feature relates to the face as a whole. Sometimes the most natural result is achieved gradually over more than one appointment.

Filler or Sculptra? The answer depends on what we’re trying to accomplish. 🖤

Hyaluronic acid (HA) filler provides immediate, targeted volume and structural support. HA is a naturally occurring molecule in our tissues with a strong ability to bind water, making HA fillers a versatile tool for restoring volume, improving contour and creating facial balance.

Sculptra (poly-L-lactic acid) works differently. Rather than functioning primarily as a volumizing gel, it acts as a biostimulator, triggering a controlled tissue response that stimulates new collagen formation over time. The result is gradual improvement in volume, support and overall skin quality.

And sometimes, we use both. 🖤

HA filler allows us to strategically restore and contour specific areas, while Sculptra supports more gradual, global collagen remodeling. When appropriately combined, they can address different components of facial aging for a more comprehensive approach to rejuvenation.
