Nueva York has always been filled with Puerto Rican art. 🇵🇷

Our music. Our theater. Our stories. Our paintings. Our poetry. Our voices.

But where is the permanent home for the artists creating it?

That’s what we’re working to build with Flamboyán Theater. 🌺

A permanent Puerto Rican home for artists in New York, not just a theater, but a space to create, rehearse, perform, paint, record podcasts, collaborate, gather, experiment, and simply BE.

A place you can walk into with an idea and bring it to life.

A place to come when you’re inspired. When you need community. When you need somewhere to create. When you’re happy, when you’re hurting, or when you simply need somewhere that feels like home.

We asked four Puerto Rican artists what having a permanent space like this would mean to them.

Their answers are exactly why we’re doing this.

Because our artists deserve more than temporary stages and borrowed spaces.

They deserve a home. And we’re building one. 🇵🇷❤️‍🔥

This is bigger than opening a theater. This is about creating a permanent home for Puerto Rican creativity, culture, expression, and community in New York.

🌺 Meet the artists helping us imagine this home:

Go show them some love. Support their work. Follow their art. Because a home for Puerto Rican artists begins with centering Puerto Rican artists.

Flamboyán Theater is coming home to NYC. 🌺🇵🇷

On-set moments from The Café, the film I had the privilege of producing. 🎬☕️🎞️

Sweatpants, utility jackets, my pink producer binder, and a clipboard that doubled as a table became my survival kit. It let me carry everything I needed as I bounced from one part of the production to another.

What made this experience so special, though, was the people.

We had the BEST crew. Every single person was invested in bringing this story to life, and it showed. And our cast… simply FABULOUS. Their performances made me laugh, cry, and genuinely feel. I wasn’t even in the scenes with them, yet I found myself emotionally affected by what they created. So much heart went into this production.

A huge thank you to @official_roberto_sanchez for writing, directing, and starring in The Café, and for inviting me to come on board as Producer. You’re a joy to work with, and I’m so excited to see your continued success. Congratulations as well on being part of shows that are up for Emmy recognition!

And lastly… a special shout-out to Tom the cat 🐈, who adopted me at base camp. He kept me company whenever I’d step outside to meditate, take a breather, and enjoy the view. (Swipe to the end of the carousel for Tom’s cameo. ❤️)

Independent filmmaking is exhausting, exciting, challenging, beautiful… and always worth it. You graduate from each production knowing more and allowing you to be multi-hyphenate on any set. 🎥⚡️🎬✨🎞️
