Volume I of Internal Medicine bc this one is a long rotation 🥲

Hospital: Detroit Michigan Hospital Sinai Grace (1st 3 weeks) and Centennial Medical Center (2nd 3 weeks)
Hours: DMC was 630 AM - 3/4 PM, Centennial was 830 AM - 5 PM

Not sure that I lovee IM so far, I think I just miss the kiddos 🥺 biggest takeaway of IM so far is that inpatient IM is def not for me, but clinic is actually fun and the patients are so sweet 💗

Def felt like I saw a lot of interesting cases at DMC (inpatient), and I got to learn so much: rounding on patients, doing ED consults, and doing full physical exams + neuro exams on patients were some of the highlights 🧠 also learnt a lot in clinic, most were just follow-ups and annual physicals but going through the medical history, explaining diagnoses, creating a treatment plan, and learning how to do billing were some of the big highlights 👩🏽‍⚕️

The best part of this rotation so far was having a couple patients in clinic tell me I’m so good at what I’m doing and one wanting me to be her doctor in the future 🥺

Was I interested in IM before this? No
Am I considering IM more after the first half? Not really 🥲

Resources: so far just UWorld, Anki, and Boards and Beyond Videos 🤓 there’s not a lot of downtime so it’s hard finding time to study while you’re working or after work when you’re super tired 😪

stay tuned to see if dev changes her opinion of IM in 6 weeks 🫡 #medfluencer #womeninstem #internalmedicine

📍Shield’s Pizza

***
Had to try Detroit style pizza before I left, so we went to Shield’s and it did not disappoint! I got their gold medal’s pizza which was supposed to be spicy but it wasn’t really that spicy for me but it still tasted so good and I def was not able to finish their small pizza 🫡 def recommend this place, and they’ve got karaoke 🎤!!
