Since the day I started skaiisblue I said I wanted to make piano versions of my songs.

Those of you who know me, know, that everything always started with playing the piano. Even when I was little, I used to sit at the piano and just play for hours and hours. To be honest, I don’t know why I haven’t done this any sooner but this song feels so special to me and like it’s opening up a whole new side of myself.

I recorded this on my favourite piano (with a piece of curtain behind the hammers (next slide)) and produced it up on tour with Natalie in a hotel room in Georgia (there’s road sounds and voices from the streets in Georgia in the background if you listen closely).

So, if you want to just take out the pace for a little while today or this week, go and listen to this song, I promise it’ll put you in a good mood 🩵

A million thanks to @maxwellcooke for creating the most magical studio space where I spend most of my free time in 🥹 oh and of course for mastering this song too!

My debut album is out everywhere now, and I’m overwhelmed with the love and support I’ve felt (since the first single, but especially in the last 24 hours). To the fans… I’m struggling to find the words to fully express my gratitude and adoration for you all… but I’ll spend the next month on tour trying to figure them out. i've been waiting an entire year to share @rachelbochner's album with the you. guys, it's finally out!!

we met rachel last fall after she had just finished recording what was to be her debut album. it was poppy, rocky, raw, and really fucking catchy—it was love at first listen. 12 months later, i am SO pleased to share the breakup/existential crisis/self-actualizing album of my dreams and her reality. and to introduce you to an artist who deserves all her flowers.

i wanted to get back into management in large part so i could help mentor and uplift the next generation of women in music. what i didn't expect is what those women could actually teach me so much about hard work, creativity, passion, and tenacity. also, turns out an album rollout is a lot of fucking work!!!

Such pleasure working closely with @rachelbochner and @17blackberries to tell their own personal story. I really enjoyed working on a video that had so many narrative bits, beautiful music and dance that tied the story and it's obstacles together, thank you @sierrafujita 🤍

Secrets is out today, and it’s a special one for me. @gavrielle’s vocals give me goosebumps and the entire song reminds me of why I started making music as Goldroom in the first place. “Collar” is officially out everywhere, and I couldn’t feel prouder.

This song, the story, the music video, and the world surrounding “Collar” very quickly became an integral part of what this album means to me. So much ache went into creating “Collar” and the rest of the album, which has made each release feel both therapeutic and kind of like those dreams where you realize you’re giving your final presentation in nothing but your undies.

There’s something so profoundly special about creating a video that largely represents the pain, guilt, and shame I had to wade through while coming to terms with my sexuality with a crew made up almost entirely by queer people. More specifically, a crew with a majority of nonbinary/trans queer people. I feel so lucky and in awe of the crew that @nashavefun put together for this project. I can’t thank everyone on that set enough. You all are AMAZING. And to my perfect love interests @dawnixttt & @dearmatt: thank you for being such lovely and safe people to tell this story alongside. ♥️

To everyone had a hand in bringing this song into existence… especially lookin at you @tigerdarrow…. THANK YOU for your talent and time and for making “Collar” go as hard as it does.

@17blackberries and I wrote this song together (on the floor of the same room we wrote Carolina Honey in) based on a poem they had started. I remember it took us a few months to figure out this oneeeee line in the chorus that wasn’t landing for us. Eventually it clicked with “there you go / dancing into all my prose” 🥲. What a dream it is to make art with the person who knows you better than you know yourself and loves even the hardest parts of you. 10/10 recommend making that person your creative director too…

To all the lovely people who have been streaming and watching and analyzing the song: it means the world to witness a song that is wrapped up in so much complicated grief, ache, and euphoria also start to mean something special to you too. That alone makes the giving-your-final-presentation-to-your-class-while-naked-feeling totally worth it.
