What an odd year full of incredibly high highs and low lows. This year I put out 3 singles, 3 music videos, and one longer-than-usual EP (it’s not an album). All dreamed up and self funded by a one Double Standard and made with love from the help, creativity, and talent of our wonderful friends. We played 1 sold out headline show and opened 26 shows. We went on 2 tours and played our first festival. I ran our social media like a town crier. We talked a lot of nonsense in interviews, sold our first vinyl, and even found time to work on some new stuff. In the midst of that I worked a full time job, but Double Standard is what I’m always proudest of. I am already verging into corny territory here, so let it be known that I am the luckiest person in the world to be surrounded on the daily by my favorite artists in music, photography, fashion, and film and I get to call them friends.

This year I made a lot of soup, terrorized my cat, frequently walked to my friends’ houses, spent time with my family, did a lot of karaoke, wore down the soles of two of my favorite shoes, dyed my hair varying shades of red, saw many live shows, frequented the movie theatre, took 1031 voice memos, overstayed my welcome, tapped back into my 16 years of dance training, randomly got super into astrophysics in the name of time, wrote many songs and then some bullshit on Substack, drove across the country and back, practiced “earnest August” after Trillium and I got a little too into the Jeff Buckley documentary, watched one of my best friends get engaged, went through approximately 4 pairs of wired headphones, and surely many other things that my internet-atrophied brain cannot remember.
Thankful could never cut it. There is still time!!!!! Happy almost 2026.
