I think I won over the Prince.✨

What a joy it has been to be a part of Cinderella the Ballet, directed by @vicodpdiva! Such a special experience to share the stage with this extraordinary group of dancers and actors from the local community, Joffrey Ballet School, Orpheum Dance Program, and beyond. And of course, being a stepsister is infinitely more fun with @heddaflynn to mess around with. A little evil, mostly goofy.🎀🩵🩰

I’m thrilled to announce I’ll be returning this summer to continue my partnership with @catskillmountainfoundation @orpheumdanceprogram under the name Groundwork Dance!

Last year, building on the legacy of Jacques d’Amboise’s NDI program of accessibility, fun, and inspiring dance, I created a pilot dance program opening a window into today’s dance field, and thinking about what sort of groundwork I want to lay for a future of dance I want to see. The program offered technique classes in floorwork and hip hop, grew individual artistry and expression, and shared international guest artist’s career perspectives, artistic process, and strategies for collaboration with students, expanding our understanding of who dances, what dance can look like, and how art brings us together to create meaningful, lasting relationships.

As we return for summer 2026, some exciting ways our program is growing include:
-Matthew Cumbie will join as a second in-person instructor and collaborator! Matthew is a tenure track professor at Colby College, and brings over 30 years of performance experience and commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and community engagement including 10 years as associate artistic director of Liz Lerman’s ‘Dance Exchange.’
-Official association with the Orpheum Dance Program; flexible schedule with morning technique classes ending at 11am prioritizes students’ commitment to Cinderella production
-Expanding our community engagement in a collaboration with @mountaintoparboretum
-4 new diverse guest artists will share their experience in dance—announced soon!

Get excited about where dance can take us!

A two-week adventure centering creativity and self-expression, this program will ground students in morning technique classes in contemporary and hip hop, followed by afternoons learning how to make our own dances. Students will engage with local community arts and culture organizations, learn how to collaborate with professionals across disciplines, and interview current dance artists in the field internationally. The program will culminate in a live performance sharing our experience.
