May 9th, 2020 is when I first started riding a bike after I bought a Trek Rosco 8 mountain bike

When I took the first ride on it climbing out of my neighborhood I told myself cycling sucks. But then I came to the realization that it doesn't suck. I was just out of shape.

I would have never imagined after that first year of mountain bike riding that I would get into gravel riding and eventually road riding and I never thought I'd ever hit anything over 5k miles

Last year I did 6K so I figured why not go for 7K this year and tonight I hit that goal

I'm really proud of myself.

I love bike riding—it usually clears my head and makes me feel lighter—but today hasn’t been that day. My mind has been spiraling since early this morning, and even the things I enjoy can’t seem to lift the heaviness. Some days are hard, and that’s okay. It doesn’t hurt to talk to someone or seek help—you’re not weak for reaching out.

My last Ironman race was October 19…why would you choose to do another 4 weeks later!? 🤣🤣🤣

Two words to describe 2025 would be “unplanned” and “goodbye.” The plan was to race Ironman California, period, end of sentence, full stop. Then they announced that this was the final year for the 70.3 in St. George so I “had to” sign up for that one and say goodbye in May. Then a month or so before Ironman California, they made the same announcement concerning Ironman Arizona…which was my first back in 2015, so I’ll be damned if I’m not going to complete the final iteration.

Ironman Arizona will always be special, and with any luck I will cross that particular finish line for a SIXTH time (12th finish overall) this Sunday! Two more sleeps! #ironman #triathlon #dimondbikes #teaminfinit #arizona

I had so much fun at my first Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Marbella Spain over the last week. Like everyone it started with delayed bike arrival but was well worth it in the end.

The swim was a highlight of the race passing lots of people on my way to a 28:06 for my first ocean race and 26th in my AG. Thankful for my Fjord wetsuit from #deboerwetsuits

The bike was lots of fun but brutal for someone like me. Climbing up to Ojen and then flying down the back side was the best part - thanks to my 54-11 I was able to put down power at 40+ mph….glad I brought my tri bike! #orrfactoryracing

After the hilly bike my legs were tired so in the first mile of the run I struggled with hamstring cramps (and a full bladder) so had to stop. After that I took down some nutrition and kept moving until the end. The run course and finish line was epic - so many people cheering and kids giving high fives!

Along the way I had a great time in the house with our local Andalusia crew. Even ran into a few legendary pros who were out and about.

Looking forward to spending quality time with the family back at home! But first, a day or two of traveling!

Adios Spain!🇪🇸
