It’s been a while since I brought Squiddies out into the world, and doing @collectedcon was so validating.

I took some risks on some new Squiddies, Rage, Despair, Bored and Midas. I was nervous about how they’d be received. But I was also excited, because they reflect the art I want to make.

My Shadow Artist series is the work I felt most insecure about because it is the most personal and honest. I was, shocked that it sold out in the first 10 minutes of the show. And the collectors who bought so genuinely loved it. 🥰

It was a joy to see the curiosity Squiddies brought to people passing by the table. People would say ‘Squiddies!’ gleefully as they saw the banner and so many artists I admire came by to say hello, introduce themselves, or pick up a Squiddie of their own. It means so much that my art resonates with you.

I’m walking away from this experience knowing I can make the art I love and it actually connects with people.

It seems so simple, yet it feels so profound.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support me and explore the world of Squiddies with me. I am so grateful, inspired and energized. I have so many new ideas and collaborators to partner with.

In 1986, pioneering hip-hop artist Eric Orr introduced Rappin’ Max Robot, a creation that helped bridge hip-hop, street art, and comic book history.

40 years later, that legacy lives on through the first-ever Rappin’ Max Robot designer art collectible by the LBO Collective.

As a Black artist and sculptor, it’s truly an honor to bring another Black creative’s vision to life and introduce it to a new generation of collectors. This project is about more than a figure. It’s about preserving our history, celebrating Black creativity, and giving these contributions the recognition they deserve.

When @Nike wanted in on the hip hop craze, they reached out to RANE.

In 2007 we teamed up on a limited edition package for the Nike Air Force One 25th Anniversary: all white sneakers paired with a white Serato Scratch Live box. Rick was one of the few who got a pair, and it’s still a cherished display in his collection.
