POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This past May I was sitting at a bar in Glasgow with @annikafoster as she told me about her project, Gridlock, that she was getting ready to take to the Edinburgh Fringe. I basically told her on the spot that I was going to be a part of it, and words can’t express how grateful I am to her for saying yes and taking me on to what would be one of the best experiences of my entire life.

Today the Edinburgh Fringe Festival officially closes, and I’ve spent the last few weeks at home trying to make sense of my feelings and what exactly I experienced. I had been to the Fringe before, but never in the capacity of producing a tiny show at the biggest arts festival in the world. Unless you’ve experienced all the excitement, pure exhaustion, beauty, connection and art that are supercharged into 24 hours a day in a tiny Scottish city, it’s honestly impossible to explain. What I can say for sure is I couldn’t have done it without our amazing team, and a piece of my heart will be in Scotland until we return next year. 🚘⛰️💙

Highlights from an unforgettable 2 weeks:
Getting to do what I love every day with people I love. Getting to watch my friends absolutely kill it in their shows.
Getting to see my cousin and show him Edi!
Reuniting with dear old friends and making memories with new ones.
Watching show after show that made me remember why I do this in the first place (I love artists).
Our audiences - friends and strangers alike who showed with open hearts (thank you).
Receiving my visa while flyering on our second day. Full circle synchronicity. Iykyk.
Dom, Kathryn, Dorie, Ibrahim, Oscar, Maider - you are my biggest highlight. Thank you for everything.

Edinburgh Fringe, we love you and we WILL see you again. 💕

So just like that our run of “Gridlock” at this year’s @edfringe at @gildedballoon is finished. Two weeks have flown by. 13 shows, each as wonderful and memorable as the last. It’s been both an honour and a privilege to work on such a richly rewarding project with each and every member of our incredibly talented and creative little team (who have become a lot more like a family) who all believed in and fully bought into this play. I’ve made some friends for life, that’s for sure.
I can’t begin to explain just how much fun and enjoyment I’ve had performing this play. It’s definitely given me some lasting and very special memories which I will cherish for a long time.
All I have left to say is thank you - thank you to the team for trusting in me and believing that I’d be able to realise the vision they had for my character, Thomas. And thank you to everyone who came along to see us, reviewed us and spread the word about our little play.
It’s remarkable what we’ve achieved and I’ve never felt so proud or rewarded in any project that I’ve worked on, I’ve loved every single second of it and can’t wait for what comes next - because I’ve never been more sure or genuinely convinced about the potential of furthering any project in my life. I’m forever grateful and so blessed to have the privilege to be able to do what I do, It’s helped me through the toughest moments of my life - “I don’t know what I would do without you”. Onwards and upwards as they say. Until next time. ❤️🎭🚘🎉
